I do think the hardware game is becoming antiquated. With Xbox going to heavily cloud based it’s proving that the actual hardware is nothing more than an exclusivity engine. I know not everyone likes it ( because change is like that ). But being required to buy a specific 500 box to play a game is starting to feel like an ancient ritual the gamers of the world aren’t ready to let go of. Even Meta going open OS signals the same thing in the VR space.

Good luck with that. You won't be able to own anymore games.

@@onmywayto974 yes I agree the digital “ownership” is a problem with this type of innovation. They need to figure that out. However I don’t believe we need to limit games based on different types of boxes. I’m a fan of owning digital media myself! The solution could be as ubiquitous as a blue ray player. You can play a Sony Movie or a Warner Brothers movie on both and not be required to buy an additional blue ray player to watch Spider-Man or Batman, that’s what we have now.

@@TheConstruct_VR Steam is the closest thing you mentioned. I somewhat agree. But let's look at Nintendo. Their hardware is the most antiquated out of all of them and they are still going strong. They make their own rules. I think if Microsoft goes all digital next round and Sony still gives the option, I believe it will be the death of Microsoft.

@@onmywayto974 Good point, Steam has been able to honor the ownership without killing support or whatever because it’s bring your own device. So it HAS to work that way. So yeah, the companies have to figure out away to make bring your own device make sense. I tend to not compare Nintendo, they’ve been playing by their own rules for so long now, so much that no one even wants to play the latest Luigi installment on their PC or PlayStation, we don’t even think about it. Sony and Microsoft made the mistake of competing with one another and also competing for the same types of games ( or the same game ). So they’ve overlapped too much. I do believe Microsoft is trying it the Steam model. Xbox, PC, Amazon Fire Stick, Phone etc. while still holding on to exclusivity. It’s a big risky gamble as you mentioned. But coming full circle. . . Owning a box and games that belong to that box may be a fading trend ( just an opinion) Gen Alpha doesn’t care where they play it, as long as they can play it. We dinosaurs are still collecting disks in our basement. We’ll see what the market decides I guess.

I feel like Sony is working closely with Rockstar Games for the PS5 Pro, mainly because GTA6 might just be better on the pro model than the base model. That’s my take

It sounds crazy but the pandemic pushed a lot of stuff further back than anticipated. There was some stuff on the list from when I was with Xbox that still haven’t been announced or even teased

Be patient! 😅 Console generations are on average, 5 to 6 years since the NES. Series X & PS5 dropped in Nov 2020, Xbox will drop next in 2026 & PlayStation respectively in 27' or 28'. PS5 Pro will drop this Nov & yes I'll buy it Day 1 for GTA6 alone coming in 25'.

I wish more people were open about why things are the way they are. Specifically in this case, the lockdowns had a knock-on effect that rippled throughout every layer of connected society, down to each individual. It rocked our species to its core. It led to shortages of every commodity on a scale unseen in modern times. Components being cheaper or even more widely available aren't a drop in the ocean of incalculable damage certain groups caused, all under the guise of "keeping people safe." Until _everyone_ is able to individually reckon with that, by all means! Keep being confused as to why stuff is still expensive!

I could be that they are changing things around. It could be that games arnt ready. But it's better to wait than to rush complicated things. Xbox uses cloud tech. But they actually lean heavy into hardware. They want they are announcing something big this holiday season and that the next gen hardware will be the biggest generational leap. Cross gen also changes things. Because yes maybe the generation will be short but it will be able to be supported and have games for longer into next gen. Also you can't really rely on new generations and what they are doing. Most of them will get tired of tablets and phones when they realize what consoles and computers can do. Even tho yes phones and tablets are strong. They arnt quite strong enough. Maybe because xbox is changing the norm that playsation is now focusing on ps6 instead of a pro or to make a pro console as good as next gen xbox. Alot of younger generations havent been around for a new gta release and are going to have to buy a console to play it. Don't be surprised if consoles will sell out around gta 6 release. Maybe the ps5 pro and next xbox will come out around the same time as gta 6.
