Thank you Erick, you have been a great help for me to find my way to the church. You gentleness and graciousness have really helped me to listen to what you have to say. I recognise so many things from your journey, only a few months ago I was in a on fire non-denominational church. I've had the exact same things when following the pastors advice "to test him by scripture", I've received the same admonitions, they told me to be humble, and that he studies hard. I'm still in the middle of the journey, I've become Catholic, but there so much left for me to reconcile, and I also recognise that it isn't simply intellect. A lot I understand with my mind, but my heart has yet to follow. Anyway, God bless you!

Glory to God! One recurring thing I have found, listening to the testimonies of Catholic reverts, is that while a great majority of the grandparents were men and women of profound faith, most of our parents performed woefully in this respect. Because of that, there was a break in handing on the faith and the effect is now mostly felt in our own generation. The good news is that as far as someone is sincerely seeking the Lord and asking salient questions with an open mind, they'll most likely be led to the Catholic Church, the pillar of Truth, and the fullness of Christ Jesus himself. The reason is simple: the Church is the Body of Christ, and Jesus is the Head of the Church. So, anyone who discovers the Head would naturally and logically be led to the Body, ultimately. It will take time surely, perheps even a whole life time, but eventually it will happen, unless the seeker does not care about logic and critical thinking. Welcome back Home, Brother.

Wow this is so amazingly relatable. A lot of things are 1 : 1 applicable to my current journey, especially about how we should test the pastor, and how the pastor kept emphasizing to test him by scripture. When I would have things to say, I also had to be humble, and "he has studied these things" etc. In the end I got excommunicated, because I cast doubt on the classic Sola's and was investigating the Catholic church and denying to reject Catholic teaching. I figured, if I'm to reject something, I ought to know what I'd reject. Still in the middle of my journey, but I've since become Catholic. A lot of difficulties in the church, but at least it seems to me that it is the true church.

The true church are born again believers. At the initial point of salvation, the new being has a strong desire to study Gods word. Hebrews 11:6 and John 1:1, God is a rewarder of those who diligently seeks Him and His word. I do t think God is a rewarder of those who claim they are a part of a “true church” based on outward appearances at all, such as a denomination like the RCC.

The marks of a true church: The Protestant Reformers searched the Word of God to answer the question of which churches were actually churches. the Reformed churches eventually settled on the belief that the Word revealed three essential outward marks by which any discerning person could determine whether any given congregation was truly a church: "The marks by which the true Church is known are these: If the pure doctrine of the gospel is preached therein; if it maintains the pure administration of the sacraments as instituted by Christ; if church discipline is exercised in punishing sin" (Belgic Confession, Article 29). The marks of a true church-pure preaching of the gospel, pure administration of the sacraments, and church discipline These three marks of a true church-pure preaching of the gospel, pure administration of the sacraments, and church discipline-are in contrast with the marks of a false church, as the Belgic Confession continues: "As for the false Church, it ascribes more power and authority to itself and its ordinances than to the Word of God, and will not submit itself to the yoke of Christ. Neither does it administer the sacraments as appointed by Christ in His Word, but adds to and takes from, as it thinks proper; it relies more upon men than upon Christ; and persecutes those who live holily according to the Word of God and rebuke it for its errors, covetousness, and idolatry" (BC, Art. 29). The Reformed churches are not motivated to talk about "true" churches and "false" churches by ego or arrogance, but by a sincere desire to see all God's sons and daughters in churches that feed their souls. We certainly pray that the Holy Spirit will grant us continued resolve to purely preach the gospel, purely administer the sacraments, and exercise church discipline, and that He would protect us from ascribing more power and authority to ourselves than to the Word, from refusing to submit ourselves to the yoke of Christ, from adding to and taking from Christ's sacraments, from relying more on men than on Christ, and from persecuting those who live godly lives. We pray these things will be true of us because of God's purpose for His church: "Unto this catholic visible Church Christ hath given the ministry, oracles, and ordinances of God, for the gathering and perfecting of the saints, in this life, to the end of the world: and doth by his own presence and Spirit, according to his promise, make them effectual thereunto" (Westminster Confession of Faith, 25.3).

Lol, was reformed for 10 years. Calvinism and reformed theology destroys the image of God and makes him the author of sin. It has no way to define cannon or orthodoxy and requires a certain type of circular logic to trust the church to create the cannon but not trust that church’s actual authority. If you feel comfortable ignoring the universal call of the fathers to follow the bishop that’s a level of brazenness I can’t comprehend. When you go to church next week ask yourself if your pastor really has the correct interpretation of scripture (how would you know?). I’m becoming Catholic because I need authority not pastor bill’s interpretation of scripture. In love CWL.

@@christopherlampman5579 In love, you sound like you have memorized all the condescending, insulting and arrogant talking points from the Catholic Answers show. Am I supposed to be in awe now?! How dare you mention my pastor in such a disrespectful way. A man who is dearly loved by his congregation. A man who has been a faithful servant of the Lord for many years. You spoke ill of a man of God. Called by Christ himself. You call me brazen?! Enjoy being told what to think and when!

Where is the true Church? To our protestant bros and sis the true Church is *_invisible_* consisting of all believers who follow Jesus wherever they might be. For me however, the true Church has to be both *_visible and invisible_* . By 'visible' I mean that if the leader of an alien force were to come to Earth and say "Take me to your (Christian) leader!" I would be able to. This is what I mean by a visible Church. A Church with a visible leader. My protestant bros/sis wouldn't be able to do that. And so their idea of the true Church is missing something: the visibility a leader. Catholics don't have this problem.

the true church is the body of believers, who follow Christ through His word. the roman catholic church is a ritualistic cult, which rejects that salvation is by faith through grace in Jesus Christ alone. it partially subscribes to this, but emphasizes that church tradition (a lie, because 1st century church tradition is NOT roman catholic tradition), the magisterium (neither the pope, nor the voting body of cardinals are established in the bible), and works (such as the wicked mass/eucharist, which re-sacrifices Christ millions of times, and rejects the totality of Christ's death on the cross, and Father God Yahweh's gift of faith by grace).

What the heck is church? Christianity is not a religion. Many Christianisms, including Catholicism. Catholic has their own 'true' Church; others have their own true churches. Nothing we claim is true. Once Pilate asked something like this: 'what the heck is truth'? Jn 18:38.

Look up the etymology of "religion." It means "to bind." The new COVENANT binds us to God. Look up the definition of "covenant." Satan hates religion because he does not want to be bound to God. Also to answer your question. "What is truth?" Christ says, "I AM The Truth." John 16:13 The catholic church has The Spirit of Truth.
