On Sundays a small group of my family members gather to eat dinner, have discussions and just chill. At some point we usually listen to music and yesterday my brother was playing some 90’s rap music and my soul just couldn’t take it 😖. I begged him to put on basketball (which I don’t care for either) but I was desperate for the music to be turned off.

I don’t know why but when I was listening to rap music it just didn’t sit right in my spirit

Right now I'm fasting from all secular music. I love a good Christian R&B song, and Lauren Dangle is great too! However, what are your thoughts on music, that does not go against the word of God, but has no mention of Him. I personally like songs- for example, Love Grows (where my rosemary goes.) What are your thought on this? In my heart's conviction, it is okay, but what do you think? Great video, by the way.

It's not bad as long it doesn't promote demonic stuff and doesn't lead you to sin

I would say definitely pray for discernment. Not all secular music is ungodly, however we have to be careful because we can’t always be sure where artists are at spiritually when they’re creating music.

Thank you for sharing this. I was recently led to let go of listening to music for the rest of the year. (Only worship like JesusCo. or instrumentals). I think now more than ever is a time to cut out the noise. It might not be negative or leading anyone astray but it’s taking up space that could go to thinking of the things of God. I used to love listening to artist like Khruangbin, Cleo Sol, vintage Brazilian songs, or Christian rap but now I’ve opted to listen to books of the Bible, instrumentals, worship, or nothing at all. Life has been more peaceful and I don’t feel like I’m missing anything. It’s definitely less noise. I can discern things more clearly and my perception isn’t daily being skewed by what I listen to. It stays in alignment with God’s focus. Also I have enough random songs that pop in my head throughout the day that could last me a lifetime 😂 at this point I can’t imagine adding more on top of that, my subconscious is flooded.
