The America's response/efficiency/strengthen/capability/speed to manage its infrastructure in 2024 is best demonstrated by time taken and the manner to clear the wreckage in Baltimore.

From the perspective of an Englishman here in England, the teamwork and can do attitude i witness over in Baltimore from the numerous agencies that have successfully recovered the bodies of the workers and continue to remove the wreckage of the bridge is commendable to say the least. RIP to the deceased.

I am wondering if or when somebody is going to tell us whether any of the six people from the bridge were in the country legally.. I already heard one of their brothers say on TV they need safer working conditions for immigrants.

Is the reopening of Baltimore Harbor being slowed up because of bureaucracy? At about 4:40 our guest states there are THREE SALVAGE operations going on around the southern bridge tower. Why is the salvage of the Dali of the same priority as clearing the harbor channel? The ship does not appear to be in any danger - unless removal of the collapsed bridge debris does so!
@Jtaugner
@Jtaugner 10 күн бұрын
Because the ship is partially in the federal channel, and the piece of bridge/truss on her bow is also in the federal channel. They have to remove all of it to get the channel open, debris cleared off the bottom and measure the depth so they can get larger ships in/out.
@weldonyoung1013
@weldonyoung1013 10 күн бұрын
@@Jtaugner yes, I can understand removing the parts of the bridge that collapse onto the Dali. But even after that is done, as you state the bottom of the "federal channel" will still need to be dredged and when that happens some of the channel will be blocked full-time or part-time be the necessary equipment. What I don't undestand is that the Dali is being treated as a separate salvage zone as opposed to just another piece of wreckage (appart from the cargo which could present a hazard that should have already been removed).

@3:15....see that corroded rebar? The concrete is barely adhered to it. Porous concrete rotting, uncoated rebar, saltwater environment, the abutment fails. 50,000 bridges big and small like this in the US.

1. Pete Buttegieg is not in charge of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers which is responsible for the navigable waters of the United States, and is reopening the shipping channel. 2. By all accounts, they are not failing, but making progress on the schedule that they have set out.
