Nice video. Thanks! A little history: Lomas de Chapultepec as well as Polanco were developed on the land that belonged to the Hacienda de los Morales (a "berry" plantation). But even before the founding of the plantation, the area has interesting history linked to Moctezuma's children. There is a restaurant in between the two neighborhoods called Hacienda de los Morales which has the remains of the main house of the plantation (now surrounded by high rises). Actually, what is now Mazaryk Avenue was initially a path lined by berry trees and a little train used to transport the crops, all the way towards the next "ranch" (Ranhco Anzures). Both, Polanco and Lomas were planned residential communities developed concurrently in the late 1930s/40s, emulating the development of Beverly Hills, (which developed around the 1910-20s). The original homes were built in a Spanish Revival style, which is sometimes referred to locally as "estilo californiano" because the style was borrowed from LA/Beverly Hills. These two areas quickly attracted the upper class, drawing them away from Condesa, Roma, etc. The direction of upscale residential development in Mexico City has always been from the Centro Historico towards the west, towards the mountains...because that is were fresh water came from...Initially, the upper classes liven in the center, then migrated towards the newly developed areas of Colonia Americana (now Condesa, Roma, Cuahtemoc), then towards Polanco, Lomas, and from the 90s onwards towards Santa Fe, etc.

This is completely inaccurate, Lomas de Chapultepec is the “Old Money” neighborhood in CDMX. The difference between Rancho San Francisco for example is that being a “new” development wealthy people have the opportunity to buy land and construct a mansion that fits all their needs, unlike Lomas where you cannot find any land for you to develop wich makes it inconvenient… on the other hand Lomas de Chapultepec has a thousand times better location unlike Rancho San Francisco which is located more on the suburbs of the city. Trust me, all of the people living in such places would rather be on Lomas but the square meter prices are higher on Lomas and the offer is fewer since everything has already been built, that means you’ll have to buy a house and then remodel it to suit your needs, which it’s way more expensive than buying land and building a brand new house. And Bosque Real… I don’t know where to start… It’s at the most a place for upper middle class, you can get a brand new apartment from 180,000 usd and I’m talking for like 100 mts. Bosques de Las Lomas, Lomas Country Club (located in Interlomas) and Pedregal are way more expensive than bosque real. If you do a market research, you'll find out that the most expensive sq meter price in Mexico City is located in Campos Elíseos part of Polanco… the thing is that you only have the chance of living in an apartment, no houses are available in that area… after that, Lomas de Chapultepec is the most expensive Sq Mt price in CDMX

Hi guys! 👋🏼😀 This is my first time watching a video from you, I hope do you spend a great time here in my country, and specially in the HUGE México's City. Well, maybe you didn't know about this, but the México's City is a lot big in population more than NYC y'know? In there have so many neighborhoods where live the rich, millionaire and billionaire mexican people not just Lomas de Chapultepec, for example, Polanco, Jardínes del Pedregal, San Jerónimo, Pedregal de San Ángel, San Ángel Inn, Pedregal de Coyoacán, Fuentes del Pedregal, Jardínes del Sur, Lomas de Santa Fé, Ciudad Santa Fé, Lomas Country Club, Interlomas, Residencial Bosque Real, Arcos Bosques, Hacienda La herradura, Club de Golf Valle Escondido, Club de Golf Zona Esmeralda, Club de Golf México (residences around) Huixquilucan, San Francisco del Rincón, Bosques de Tlalpan, etcétera inside everyone of this neighborhoods get a lot of modern mansions, colonial mexican casonas, fincas, and buildings/residencial skyscrappers, and just that in México's City around all the Metropolitan zone. Showing the financial power of the rich people in there, clearly, have the oposite side, the zones where the poor and middle class live and its the majority, if you know, just only lil' part of the people get the opportinity of richness. Whatever, I hope do you'll spend a great time here. Huggs 🤗, greetings from Hidalgo, México 👋🏼 and blessings 🙏🏼.

This video made me very hungry! 😂 but I do love Lomas but Polanco will edge it out for me because it has many more options for nightlife and things to do as a visitor. But if you guys want good sushi I recommend going to Little Tokyo area in the Cuauhtémoc neighbourhood. You’ll find so many Japanese spots on the “river streets” that are pretty good, along Rio Lerma, Rio Pánuco, etc…) . The remains of the Italian neighbourhood in La Roma near the David Statue for some good Italian food. There’s so much to eat and not many people realize how cosmopolitan the city is. Enjoy the trip! :)

@@theropemonster ah yes! The Lebanese food! Those Lebanese migrants that have given our food so much! Tacos Al Pastor wouldn’t be the same without Shawarma! But that’s awesome you stayed in Cuauhtémoc! Definitely a hidden gem. I’ve been watching your videos and love them! CDMX is one of my favourite cities in the world. But it’s still very misunderstood outside of CDMX itself. If you guys are staying for a while, I recommend visiting neighbouring cities such as Puebla and Querétaro, to the south and north of CDMX respectively. They’re both viceroyal gems but very affluent, and they have their own newer upper class areas like Angelopolis in Puebla and Juriquilla in Querétaro and are surrounded by amazing Magic Towns (Pueblos Mágicos) that are worth a visit, Querétaro with a focus on its wine country scene and Puebla with its gastronomic legacy, such as mole poblano and Tacos Árabes (another legacy my the Christian Lebanese and Iraqi migrants to the region). Puebla has a town called Chipilo which was founded by Italian immigrants in the late 1800’s where they still speak Veneto and they make incredible Italian food and the gelato is the best this side of the Atlantic! I’ve been all over the USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay and Chipilo has the best gelato and overall dairy products, just like in Italy! Worth a trip for a long weekend to explore! Keep up the great vids!
