higher education is treated as a means to an end, as a path to a job and ONLY that, not as a means to better oneself through knowledge. which is a shame :/

The anti-intellectual movement ignores lessons that have been learned over and over again around the world: making education affordable is in every nation's self interest. But it makes extremists and schemers nervous to have an educated populace and voter base.

Maybe instead push for a solution to the problem instead of the symptom. Let’s talk about forgiving student loans AFTER they stop using this broken system. If we just forgive them now, we’ll be right back where we were in 10 years.

I hate that I ever signed up for student loans. I'll probably never be able to pay them off.

Higher education's onerous cost may have contributed to the growing anti-intellectualism that is sweeping through our nation. However, I think an even bigger instigator of this acrimony towards academia is the ideological capture of universities and the increasingly censorial environment that is fostered in higher education. These institutions are more and more not about the free exchange of ideas. Rather, they seem intent on privileging certain ideas over others, and sheltering people who uphold these approved ideas from opposing opinions through the use of safe spaces, trigger warnings, and unwarranted charges of harassment and bigotry against dissenters.

For all the responsible adults that paid their students loans back on time, can we get refunds?
