Where should you zero your rifle?

when i shoot beyond 800 yards i zero my rifles at 200 yards for big game. but like for coyotes i zero at 100 yards. just because not many animals get that close to me when hunting big game. but coyotes are a bit more brave to get a little close. just what i like .

If your ballistic engine is incorrect because of incorrect ballistic coefficient why do you true it by changing velocity? Why don't you change the ballistic coefficient?

If you know it's an incorrect BC you would change your BC. Many people don't have the tools to know if it's BC or MV. When you don't know and truing you change BC at super sonic as it's more dominant or MV in sub as it's more dominant. Always better if you know your exact BC and MV but not always practical.

WHY is zeroing at 100 meters better than 50 or 200?

Just depends on your use and what ranges you'll be shooting. Some guys like to zero at 200 because they are shooting a lot from 150-250 so that give them max point blank capability for those shots.

Because that’s the single-zero distance… thereby giving you ONE zero. Everything closer and farther will be a hold-OVER. Hold-unders (inherent with all other zeros) are not intuitive, and unnecessarily complicating. Point blank range techniques aren’t magical, and really just sloppy. Nothing changes about the actual bullet path with zero at 50 or 75 or 150. Use 100, and learn the dope for the ranges you expect to shoot.

I think anywhere you zero that is not affected by wind is the best. Usually the 100 yard ranges are not affected by wind enough to matter. But if you have a 200 or 300 yard zero that had wind affecting it, when the wind goes away your zero will be off. So 50 yards/meters could be a good zero Also.
