Playing all sorts of guitars, from acoustic to electric and back, heavy metal, hard rock, I went back to blues. I knew I misnamed your guitar, and wanted to start a conversation for no particular reason. Aloha my brother.

Aside from Waiahole, everything else you listed was touristy. Açaí bowls don’t get anymore so. Liliha is great but they are known for cream/Cocoa Puffs and Poi Mochi Doughnuts. And the best Ramen is more likely Lucky Belly or Menya. Also you should have been specific which grocery store for Poke as arguably the nod goes to Foodland. Otherwise head to the back of a liquor store called Tamura’s.

Yep. My neighbor/auntie in Kaneohe made the best spam musubi ever! We’d go fishing and give the neighbors fish. They’d bring us all kinds of good grinds in return. Mostly it was the spam musubi that we waited for. Spam is really phony ham, but there’s an art to making the sushi rice just right.

Right on. You can’t beat the fresh fish and fruits in Hawaii. We have a huge avocado tree, apple banana trees and lilikoi vines (passion fruit) in the yard. I came to Hawaii after high school but I know how everyone here goes by, “what school you went brah?” Radford is town side right? Kalihi or Waipahu or Makiki? I forget.
