Jamaica is probably best known as the birthplace of reggae. It's a popular Caribbean destination, welcoming approximately 2 million visitors each year. But there is so much more to this island than it's "just be happy" motto. Enjoy the diverse landscape full of beautiful beaches, swimming holes, diverse wildlife and rich culture.
For my first in Jamaica, I stayed in Negril at Rockhouse Hotel. I had a blast. I will definitely go again.

My parents, aunts, uncles etc are all Jamaican and I don't take offence. There are a lot of very rude and aggressive people from there, but usually you encounter it more in town like if you were a local. I've encountered very few bad experiences with people when I just go as a tourist and sit on the resort, everyone is usually pretty cool and chill. Some of them are EXTRA cool and will do you favours and give you preferential treatment if you show love and treat them well too. I'm sure by time your trip was done you had way more good experiences with the people there than bad, especially as a tourist. I'm loving the travel Vlogs, keep it up!

I hope that you guys got to enjoy the Negril vibe. Also hoping that the coconut vendor's attitude was just a one off situation because typically, especially when it comes to tourists, Jamaicans are pretty chill. (I should say that 'We are pretty chill.' lol). But, most of the touristy spots tend to have a good vibe. Just enjoy it though. Take in a many sights as you can the next time that you visit. Mystic Mountain, Dolphin Cove, Margaritaville, Dunn's River Falls (among others). The Appleton Estate tour is another thing to try out. That's sounding like a good 2 week trip, I think.

Hey Melli, I am from Trinidad & Tobago and I have Jamaican friends and I have encountered many Jamaicans. Some of the ones that I have met are friendly and many of them have an aggressive attitude and they speak to you in a rude or brash tone. I found out from history that there were two main tribes that came from Africa back in the 1600s or 1700s to Jamaica. One tribe was aggressive and warlike and the other one was peaceful and non-aggressive. So I believe that's why many of them have an aggressive attitude. Don't worry about it it's just the way how some Jamaicans are. I hope that you enjoyed your vacation. I love those travel videos keep them coming Melli.

I'd like to know about the people in Trinidad as well. Are some of those people aggressive and some peaceful and nice? I'm just curious, because I'm 100% sure that aggressive and peaceful exist in every culture, ethnicity or country. This doesn't have much to do with your research on tribal settlement.
@jamdawgutube

Where do you get this from? Most Jamaicans I know are very friendly and personable. Sometimes too friendly/talkative and invading your personal space. I've also met Trinidadian men who came off as rude.

I happy to see you in Jamaica Melli, the Pineapple show is one of my favourite channel. I work in Negril, for a couple years. Negril always have a lot of hustlers on the street, you have to be aware of Taxi and food vendors prices on the street, so asked price before, many of them is not honest. One jelly $1000 ja dallors that vendor is not honest. Sunset at Rick Cafe, is great, food is great all over but asked price first. Offering service in Negril to tourist on the beach or on the road without a licence is an offence and Soliciting.

It was either a bad day for him or what I can say that I know about my people...they don't like to be on camera, so it could be a mix of things. It looks like you had a good time otherwise 😊 Glad to see that!
