This year’s Canada Day holiday marks the country’s 157th year since it confederated in 1867.
To mark the occasion, festivities will be taking place across the nation. Many opt to spend the federal holiday with friends and family, with a day of barbequing, getting outdoors, and most notably, watching fireworks shows once the sun goes down.
Across the Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara Region, there are several chances to catch an evening pyrotechnics display.
Hamilton:
Hamilton residents will have several options to celebrate the day with fireworks.
The city’s Bayfront Park will host a Canada Day celebration starting at 1 p.m., with live music, food trucks, activities for the kids, and a fireworks show that kicks off at 10 p.m.
The event is free to attend, but parking will be limited. Residents are encouraged to take one of the many public transit options. HSR will offer free shuttle rides from the city’s core to the park.
Another display will take place at the Ancaster Fairgrounds in Jerseyville. Admission is $5, and fireworks will begin at 10 p.m.
Halton Region:
The City of Burlington will be celebrating the event at Spencer Smith Park. Burlington Transit is offering a free Canada Day shuttle to the park. Pickup begins at noon from the Mainway Arena.
The celebrations will feature live music, food, a drone show at 9:30 p.m. and a fireworks display at 10 p.m.
In Oakville, a Canada Day celebration will take place at the Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park. It starts at 4 p.m. and will feature performances from local community groups, face painting, and live music.
Oakville Transit offers free rides to the event from the Bronte GO Station starting at 3:45 p.m., with shuttles running every 10 minutes.
Fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m.
Niagara Region:
Those living in Niagara Falls can expect to see the falls lit up in red and white at the top of every hour until 10 p.m. when the city puts on its pyrotechnics display at 10 p.m.
St. Catharines will host a fireworks display at Lakeside Park. Throughout the day, several live concerts will be held until 8 p.m., and fireworks will close out the day shortly after the final set.

Did it used to be called the minion day? I watched a Canadian historian and he broke down Canada Day versus dominion day. I don't have a dog in his hand I was just curious that's why I watched the video.
