I just hope Queen Elizabeth II ‘s family will be able now to have at least 3 days to mourn in private without having to do anything more in public. It is at times like this I am glad NOT to be a royal. It was hard enough to set up the funeral and go to it when my mother passed away. I would have gone off my nut if I had to do this whole process in front of the town let alone the whole world. May God hold her in his arms and continue to comfort her family in the coming months. May King Charles III have his heart relieved and face his reign with the same dignity, honor and grace as his mother.

I would not expect a woman's sister to show up at the woman's husband's Grandmother's funeral. Distant in-law's are not considered close relatives. In our family the aunts and uncles who were not directly related to the deceased often remained with the very young children while their sister or brother attended the in-law's funeral because they knew the kids would have a much harder time being consoled by anyone after watching mommy and daddy acting much more different than usual because they were mourning the death of the loved one

How dare they not also invite the Middleton's other children, grandchildren, daughter and son in-law, the in- law's parents and grandparents, the in-law's siblings, etc. The middleton parents were there because they are the parents and grandparents of a future Queen Consort and King respectively. Any other more distant relatives of the Royal Family in-law's may have been invited to private services or may have just visited the family to express condolences but would not be included in a state funeral🙄

The Middletons are unusual, in that they are close to the Royal family. The Spencer’s and Bowes-Loynes were aristocratic families and never had the access to the Royal family in the familiar way Kates family does. Yes the aforementioned families “knew” them but it was in a very officious / attending court kind of way. So I’m not surprised only her parents were invited to the funeral. They are “normal” people and it’s a state occasion

Kate herself stayed home with her kids rather than rush to Balmoral because she doesn't feel like she has to make an appearance just for the sake of it.
