When Hassan talked about not fitting in either way, and using his passport to go anywhere to support his family, that hit me so hard. Cause just a few weeks ago I was talking to my husband about this, and telling him I’m not bound by any country because I don’t feel like I’m one of them. I’ll take my chances and make the world my country. This was emotional cause I can’t find people like me. I’m always the odd one out. I was born in Pakistan, but I grew up in China, I migrated to Canada when I was 18. I tried so hard to get rid of whatever accent I had in my English so I could fit in, and belong to a country that I can call home. Same reason why all our parents left our countries, for a better future. In British Columbia there is a huge Chinese and Indian population. I speak fluent Chinese but broken Urdu/Hindi. My Indian friends just can’t let go off the India/ Pakistan hatred, which btw I never knew cause I grew up in China. My Chinese friends never really see me as on of them, some of them think me speaking in Chinese is showing off... which is laughable cause when they speak English I think it’s perfectly normal. I try to make Canadian friends, but most people the moment they hear I’m from Pakistan they start off with their flawed opinions about terrorism, and when I tell them I grew up in China it’s about communism. It never seems to escape this loop. What annoys me more is the Asian to Asian racism I face. I try to explain it to them, and become a shield for them, but this has a horrible result on me. They exclude me more. I’m so glad I watched this video. I had a thought. You three are so talented, you could earn so much money by doing videos or music that was more accepted by the public. Everyone that rich gets treated better. But you chose to be the shield. You discussed the issue that were in your countries and you try to shed light on them, what’s more, on the internet! That’s unimaginable to me. That’s so brave of you all. Because you didn’t try to make it better for your self only, you thought of others! I don’t think I can ever do that.

It breaks my heart to hear this. I know there's no making up for what you've been through but as an Indian, I hope you'll believe that I cherish you. I hope we will live to see a time when people have learnt to let go of prejudice, especially when it comes to backyard racism in Asia.

I kinda don’t agree that the pandemic hit everyone equally. People that are more privileged don’t have to worry about things like job security (as much) and isolating in tiny places. I think in some ways this pandemic highlighted the gap. EDIT: Thanks so much for this. I felt like I was with a group of friends. The topics discussed hit home.

I am proud you are using your platform to help the community where you come from. If all the comments up there were not already convincing enough, I'm just gonna say it again: the world needs more of you three together. I want to thank you Riz for working up this brilliant idea of having a woke conversation with two of those people we want to hear so much more from. I am a 22 year old Pakistani completing a degree from a good university in Karachi. Yet I always dream of and am surrounded by close friends who always look forward to moving abroad, finding a home in U.K or U.S.A and this may serve as a third perspective but we never quite realize that even after having made so much of a name in a foreign land, there is still so much you can go through as a South Asian brown Muslim. This piece of conversation was therefore truly enlightening. I also particularly want to acknowledge the point you made about the impact always being made no matter whatever little you do. That one should not worry about the consequences or overthink about who is going to watch them, acknowledge them or be impacted by them. As a proof of this phenomenon, let me tell you that I first read about you at the back of an Urdu magazine when I was hardly 12 years old. And I thought wow this looks like an amazing person, I wish I could know more of him. But back then we didn't have Wi-Fi or a smart phone or anything that could connect us to millions of people in a few seconds. But today almost 10 years later I discovered your channel and was able to see this video. And I think this the true miraculous beauty of 'impact' as it can touch a million souls in a plethora of different time zones without you even ever knowing.

So this is something that I feel is something that we could talk about too. In a movie like Crazy Rich Asians.... the common misconception that “Asians” are only the ones from East/South East Asia. Very rarely are South Asians and those of us from the South Asian diaspora are not a part of the conversation of representation.

You seem to have a problem with the fact that we have a diverse identity in that regard, why don't you first take your questions to government officials that also make us highlight that diversity. Tbh, even if we referred to ourselves as just British, people would have a problem with it. The majority of us are proud of all our heritage, and comfortable with it. Perhaps you should interrogate your own anxieties.

Respect to you all, loving the vibes from 3 amazing comedians/social commentators/free spirits, your all pretty inspirational (Hassan ill never get on a cruise ship after watching that PA episode) Muslim commentaries need to be at the forefront. Also thank you for noting the sisters also need to be given a space listen Muslim women get the imposter syndrome going into the mosque! If we dont even feel fully engaged or have to fight for the right to have our space within our own community. Should we do like the three of you find our space regardless, advice appreciated thanks guys 🐻🐻🐻

I really appreciated this talk. I could listen to it all day. I think that the core concepts and values transmitted through this conversation are universal and just know that there are people that are trying to educate themselves and teach their children to respect people from every walk of life. Your work and sacrifice to forward society isn't going unnoticed and is making a difference. Its up to everyone else to do their own internal work and that ripple effect will hopefully get all of us to the world we wanna live in. You on that proverbial hill, you're not alone, people just don't know how to fight, but if you lead the charge, you'll find so many people will follow behind.

Thank you so much for making this interview guys! Would love to see all 3 of you in a movie together. And you guys should know that all 3 of your work is making a global impact and change. This interview alone is really refreshing for people like myself who are also struggling with many of the questions you guys are discussing. How do we balance between creating something for ourselves vs entering the machine, who do we run by our ideas with and do we really need permission to do our thing? This is amazing. Really, my prayers with you, Riz, Hasan and Guz. Looking forward to seeing more from you guys and the rest of the global Muslim artists!
