what I really like about metal fans is that they are really easy to get along with and don't take jokes too seriously. I have been comparing types of people and paring them with music and the most enjoyable crowd has got to be metal. But who wouldn't be in a good mood with "Metallica" at their back?

I love thrash metal, and I love that Metallica has gone back to their roots in the last decade (along with many other old school thrash bands). Still, this is Metallica's best song. Every metal band has to have their tribute to the dark angel of music, and this one definitely suffices. It's such a powerful and true message, if you take the religion at face value.

As a Philosopher this song transcends music itself... There's a lot of metaphysics and powerful Theological implications. Only those that are ILLUMINATED can understand. For those that don't understand and still like it, it's because subconsciously the message is being received, in turns soul being fed.

I saw them in concert summer of 92 perform this song when on tour with GNR and Faith No More, It's still the best concert I have ever been too.

My favorite is, "and the earth becomes my throne I adapt to the unknown, under wandering stars I've grown by myself but not alone, I ask no one!"

I feel that so hard. There are entire genres of music I can’t bring myself to listen to over a year after my relationship ending. Thanks for sharing that, and I’m really glad you’re able to listen to this again.

My son is soon off to college and my life's duties and responsibilities are nearly fulfilled at just 48 years old. I hate this stupid automated world of enslavement they are constructing and I'm getting rid of everything I own and buying a small plot of land and a motorhome to live in. I am done. Wherever I roam and whatever I do is going to be my own choosing. This song is now my life's anthem.

Congratulations you are free! And forgive yourself for any wrongs you feel you are carrying. You're really on the right track!

@@wescron well thanks. I've got nothing to forgive myself for though. I've been a great Dad, raised my son by myself after my wife passed away 9 years ago. Did what I needed to do and I'm looking forward to doing what I want to do. Me and my son are both outdoorsy guys and he's just as excited about me going this route as I am. He's still going to become an engineer but when he comes home on break, it will be like he's going camping. Lol. For me, it is just a flat out rejection of the way this world works. It's like they have THEIR blueprint for MY life. Well THEY can kiss MY ass. I'll do what I want to do, and I'll have my labor benefit me and my son, not the property management company or the bankers or tax man or anyone else. It's my life and when it's time to die, I'll be the one doing it, so I'm gonna decide how it's lived.

I played this song for my son who turns 25 soon. It explained why I lived as a gypsy on my cycle for the first twenty years of my adult life. Today, with all the background checks, HR interviews, and drug tests, required just to wash windows or serve food, bag groceries, or shovel dirt, or w/e work I took (in over 500 different locations across the lower 48 states) you couldn't even live as I did then. I mostly worked for gas stations. Those don't even exist anymore. My son got it, but then asked what I was looking for with all my traveling around. I told him, "Nothing, just a new horizon." He told me he will never understand my generation.

I have a headache right now and for some reason, listening to this song helps a lot. Any loud rock really, it’s always been that way for me. For most people, loud music makes it worse...not for meh tho. I love heavy rock so meh not disappointed
