Great content sir!! you always find a way to come up with the most interesting topics. I haven't even finished watching this vid but I want to thank you already. I'm an SRNA and finding your channel has been one of the best things that ever happened to me while in school. Your videos help me to have an idea of what's coming ahead in my journey! Great video man! I always learn a lot about Anesthesiologist, from your videos! I really tried to go to college to be a Anesthesiologist after I graduated high school in 08 but it was gonna be too hard because of my cerebral palsy, I’m 31, I’m gonna become a Honorary Anesthesiologist soon! You’re a awesome Anesthesiologist

I’ve been a CRNA for 8 months. Never have been interested in Cardiac anesthesia. Was my least favorite rotation in school as well lol. I mainly like general cases and some neuro with a splash of OB. I also like the surgery center feel at times. I like having a different atmosphere some days.

I work with peds, they are amazing! My country has a unique system, where a physician always has an RN as an assistant. We go to a basic RN school and get a few months of orientation.

Great video! I always think about this topic and I have in my mind that I will one day be a cardio thoracic CRNA. I've always been interested in CT and had a hard time choosing between CTICU and SICU but I chose the SICU due to the variety. I'm curious to know why you didn't enjoy CT as a SRNA?

Do the specialties pay more than the bread & butter cases for a CRNA or is the pay the same regardless of what type of cases you do? If they do, which specialty area pays the most?
@BoltCRNA4 жыл бұрын
You are paid based off time units and modifiers for a case, not based on the specialty of anesthesia.

Are there any cardiac fellowships for CRNAs? Looking on the COAs website I only see fellowships for pain management and pediatrics. Any idea if there will be cardiac fellowships in the future? It seems like anesthesiologists now need a cardiac fellowship so I am wondering if it will be the same for CRNAs?
@BoltCRNA3 жыл бұрын
No specific cardiac fellowships as of now. Most cardiac CRNAs grow their skills by working in cardiac anesthesia groups. You will do a cardiac rotation or two in CRNA school.

Had someone suggest AA school as an alternative to CRNA school. Any thoughts?
@najat43394 жыл бұрын
The AA positions only exists in very few states. I heard it was getting phased out completely but not sure.
@BoltCRNA4 жыл бұрын
A CRNA is an independently licensed full practice anesthesia provider in all 50 states. An anesthesia assistant is only recognized in a handful of states and are trained to be an assistant to a physician anesthesiologist.

Hey Bolt, I am considering an ICU to CRNA career path. How do you think CRNA colleges will respond to an applicant who is not willing to participate in pediatric circumcisions?
@BoltCRNA3 жыл бұрын
That won't be something they will ask in your CRNA program interview.

Do you choose what to specialize in while in CRNA school?

You usually figure out on your rotations what anesthesia specialty you gravitate towards and oftentimes apply for practices lining up with your preference.

Hallo.. I have diploma in anesthesia and recovery and bachelors degree in nursing. Is that enough to be CRNA ? I have 20 years experience anesthesia technician. Thanks
@BoltCRNA4 жыл бұрын
No. With your bachelors of science in nursing you should be able to get an ICU job in America. You can then get your application together for a doctorate in nurse anesthesia program. Once you get into the program you'll graduate 3 years later full time and be able to sit for national boards to become a CRNA.

Hello! I’ve been obsessed with your channel lately. Thank you for being so thorough! When did you know you wanted to become a CRNA ? I’m still in the BSN program but have been obsessed with CRNA video, podcasts etc. I am curious what was the selling factor for you and when did you just “know”? Thank you! 🙂
@BoltCRNA4 жыл бұрын
I was heavily interested in the career field when I met a CRNA on my surgical rotation in nursing school. I planned and prepared to get into CRNA school from that point on but it probably wasn't a 100% thing until I was working as an ICU nurse.
@natalied.85194 жыл бұрын
Bolt CRNA thank you for replying!! did you shadow that CRNA while in school? Or wait until you were an ICU nurse? Is it uncommon for nursing students to want to shadow a CRNA? Or is it more so for graduated nurses? I don’t know when too soon is or how to find one to shadow.

Great video sir. How long does it take nurses on average to get into an ICU?
@BJ-eh4ol4 жыл бұрын
Not sure if he'll have time to respond, but I can say it depends on how willing you are to relocate. Many of my ADN classmates got in immediately after graduating but they all relocated about an hour to three hours away. A year of experience in tele or stepdown is a great idea though.

I got in to a top notch ICU in a teaching hospital / level 1 trauma center right out of school and it was easy because during during school I got a job as a patient care tech. Highly recommend being a CNA in an ICU. Sets you up to go right into the icu after you graduate

I graduate this December and have a position in a CICU as a new graduate nurse in January. It’s possible to get an ICU position before you even graduate. Look into externships while you’re in nursing school.
