The whales actually come further down into Nayarit and Jalisco, Mexico. I'm from Nayarit, and every year around winter you can see them. so it's even a couple hundreds more kilometers than the video says.

Didn't want to mention this before, as I didn't feel it appropriate but since others have started the conversation. Julia really does a great job presenting this show (that said, so do the other current hosts) However, I never feel that she has a (not so secret) secret agenda; unlike some of the former hosts. Which it has to be said, is a quality I appreciate greatly. Edit Not that any of the other current hosts are bias, they also do a great job presenting. It's just Julia does it particularly well.

But why do each animal migrate to the places their migrating to? like why from alaska to new zealand? why not southeast asia or stay in the americas?
@TheLittlebitch699 жыл бұрын
Im surprised to not see any comments in reply to your opening question "how far would you go for love?", because a lot of people are seemingly obsessed with Julia, id expect comments along the lines of "I'd traval whatever distance you are away from me", because thats not creepy at all.

How do they know where to go? Umm... They see the land... Then figure that the bay over there is on the pacific, so I'm going to fly at a bit of an angle from that, and keep going, til I get to where I need to go... When it gets colder than their destination, 'Oops too far, back the other way a bit...' Simple...

"In one fell swoop" means to do something in one go due to savagery or vicious effort, so isn't really right here - you would cut off someones head in one fell swoop, or knock down a house, but the "in one go" bit isn't the main point of it so doesn't really make sense for an 8 day flight. Unless the bird was being particularly savage when it was doing it. Perhaps if it were one of Eddie Izzard's evil ducks. Quaaaack.

How could these animals possibly know where to go for better weather and better breeding grounds? Did their ancestors go in all directions and the ones who survived begat the next generation? Hey, they have instincts! (you don't hear that word too often any more) But where did they get their instincts. Why hasn't the theory of evolutionary behavior even attempt to explain this phenomenon.?
