Demon Slayer is probably the most popular non isekai anime in Japan right now. Isekai itself is probably the biggest genre in Japan though lately especially with Mushoku Tensei becoming an anime as well after its very big LN success in Japan. AOT was as hype if not more back in 2013 in Japan but since then as the Story evolved in many ways its hard to gauge what is happening unless you regularly kept up with the show on TV (in Japan) since 2013 and thats pretty hard to do so. Lately AOT has been awarded for guiness world records like "The most in-demand anime of 2021" as well as recently "The most in-demand show of 2022" with it surpassing Game of Thrones, Mandalorian and others so AOT has achieved way more global popularity especially in US than it has in Japan. Theres another reason for Demon Slayer and Tokyo revenger huge local popularity as the shows are very connected to Japanese tradition and lifestyle. Demon Slayer has people wearing kimonos, having katana fights, etc. Tokyo Revengers show the delinquents of highschool which is probably something a lot of people and youngsters can relate to when watching the show as they probably have been a part of it. AOT is a global story that doesnt stick to a country or anything which explains its popularity. Not to mention that Japanese prefer way more to read manga than watch anime as anime usually comes at prescribed times in TV and theyre not able to catch up with it. And AOT's manga has already been finished for a long time which explains why it isn't as hype right now there.

I live in Japan for like 8 years now and mostly all of my Japanese friends they don't take anime seriously. I mean they only watch if everyone talking about it, for example "demon slayers". But for me One Piece is the best of the best not only because of the character but the geniuses of Oda Eichiro connecting all the chapters. It's so typical of Japanese where they "have to blend in" in every aspect of situation. If everyone talking about it, they will try to watch so they will not left out from any conversation. That's what I see from living in Japan these many years.

@___xyz___2 жыл бұрын
Well, not exactly true. Most foreigners have never watched nor even heard of the term. In Japan it's ubiquitous and easily lumped together with other movies and TV series. The general problem in the West is still the obsession with Hollywood culture. Although streaming services like Netflix have gradually lowered the boundary for getting into non-American TV, the commercial reality complex still pretty much obsessive in the vast majority of the world. Most people wouldn't even bat an eye to Asian let alone Western animation (traditional; not 3D).

In every season i'm watching 8-10 animes and donghuas, because i'm a proofreader in fansub team and plus always watching 2-3 animes from earlier seasons + One Piece somtimes. But still on my "done" list are only 310 animes. There are many favourites and i'm so crazy about Shingeki no Kyojin, it's my newest title on my own masterpiece list. My first masterpieces were Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Love them so much and it's all thanks to Japan. 🖤 You gave a great treasure to the world what makes reality much better. ☺️

It's a really strange thing 😐😂 all the countries of the world, girls and guys, are waiting for the most important and beautiful anime (Attack on Titan), why did no one mention it 💔😪 I was really afraid of the scenes of blood and fighting, but this anime left me no other choice but to watch it because of the suspense And his story is more than wonderful ... I highly recommend watching it ❤❤

I think its the way the question was asked. He asked what they were watching now but AoT S4 part 2 came out after this video. Also, I'm sure the ones who do watch anime have probably watched so many you can't really remember them all. I have trouble remembering what I watched last year even though there were so many good ones (not new ones though, I'm catching up on my backlog). But yes, I would recommend AoT to anime and non-anime fans as a must watch

I’m 37 and just started watching anime this past year for the first time ever because my boyfriend loved it so I wanted to do something he enjoys. Started with My Hero Academia and I really liked it and saw the extra movies as well. Then we watched Rising of the Shield Hero, That Time I reincarnated as a Slime, Ascendance of a Bookworm, KonoSuba, Silverspoon, Gate, and now currently Haikyu. I don’t know why I never got in to anime till just recently since I love JRPG video games. It just wasn’t really a thing when I was growing up in the town I grew up in. I’m watching Attack on Titan and Goblin Slayer as my solo shows since they are too much for my BF. I feel like I missed out on so much but I also love knowing I have endless shows to catch up on.

I feel like my picks for favorite anime are way niche in comparison to the average... in no particular order, I love Dorohedoro, Golden Kamuy, Mob Psycho 100, and Ranking of Kings best. they are my more current favorites... but then in terms of older anime that I love, I have to shout out Fullmetal Alchemist (though I prefer the manga actually), and the recent anime adaptation of Fruits Basket. I feel like I would love to recommend some of these titles to certain people, depending on their tastes. it really seems like a lot of Japanese people don't have time for anime in the first place, nor do they take it very seriously (which isn't a problem, it's just unfortunate if they end up missing a show they would've liked). it seems like most will only watch the sort of show that is so popular that they almost have to see it, if they don't want to feel left out of every conversation about it. but that means that they could miss a lot of smaller titles that they could really love if they knew about them. idk, maybe I'm just too big of an anime fan, but that seems really sad to me.

Everyone in this video is cute and the guys are handsome 😁🥰 Here in Brazil, they used to show more anime in the 90s and 2000s, but now everyone watches them online. My brother grew up with Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya and tokusatsu shows (Kamen Rider, Jaspion, Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya, Lion Maru, etc). I grew up watching a little bit of everything including Yu-Gi-Oh, Hamtaro, and Konjiki no Gash Bell. My friends enjoyed Digimon. I even remember watching Ranma ½. They aired Crayon Shin-chan for a while on paid TV as well, but I saw very little of it. A really popular anime that was never shown here is Doraemon. Nowadays, I enjoy alternative anime; usually seinen.

Thanks to you I found out Tokyo Revengers has a movie, and the movie is live action and I'm excited for it. I got into GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka years ago through the Japanese drama--the one Oguri Shun played in. And then through that got into the anime, and have been rewatching the anime again recently. It's such an old anime, very lewd but funny. Made me wonder if there are any reckless teachers in Japan, but I highly doubt it since I know there's lots of rules in Japan. Nonetheless, are there any particular teachers in your life that made a difference for you? Or any teachers who vividly remember and will remember? For me, for instance, one of my college professors made a huge difference in my life. He became my mentor, someone I could confide in, he helped me so much! I was really close with him and took many of his classes because he didn't teach like from a book. He really was an amazing teacher. He was also a chaperone for a study abroad trip to Japan that we took through my university. He was always rooting for me, no matter what goal I was set out on, it's because of him that I became motivated to want to teach one day. Unfortunately, he passed away due to cancer. It kind of sucks because he wrote an amazing recommendation letter for this program I was going to do in Japan, but then the pandemic thing cancelled it and I feel sad because besides my previous boss, he knew me best.
