Cycle.travel is also excellent. I now use that in preference to the ones mentioned in the video

Agree. cycle.travel also features the National Cycle Network routes so I'm surprised it didn't get a mention. Its absolutely brilliant route as a planning tool and allows you to export .gpx files for your GPS.

Really enjoyed using Komoot this year and just picks up any photos you may have taken on same device. Maps.me is also a great map with ability to download small areas of uk to use when no signal available and uses less memory.

i use pocket earth, it might not suit everybody, but it shows all sustrans and local cycle routes.

I think CycleMaps has the best routing that I’ve found. Even better than Komoot for a lot of journeys in my experience.

I'm actually prettied horrified that anyone would recommend Google Maps for cycling. It seems to to take little account of the type of the road and in Birmingham, where I live, often suggest routes which take you along the ring road or across enormous high-speed multilane roundabouts. If it isn't actively dangerous it's pretty close, and it absolutely isn't a tool that should be recommended if you don't already have a pretty reasonable idea of where you're going.

100% agree with that!

I'm trying to advise someone new to cycling and cycling with kids in a trailer RE local sustrans routes. Why is there no interactive online route map? The map availability online is really clunky. Seems like sustrans preferred mapping is OS but there is no way to toggle sustrans routes on/off. Tell me what I'm missing please? Accessibility to the network should be a priority and that starts with easy to find, easy to use and filter, mapping. Come on guys!
