Bubbles and babies are a bad mix! You will want to select a bottle which minimizes bubbles. These will be bottles which have a vent which lets air in without the air going through the milk.

Liner bottles in my opinion are the best, it was the only bottle that helped my youngest with reflux as we just squeezed the air out of the bag and she could drink sitting up without worrying about sucking up any air.... she could have it on any angle she wanted it on, l love them and will never go back to using the vented ones, Liners FTW all the way!!.... thanks for the review though its pretty cool to see the differences

It doesn’t look like you ever did the review on the disposable liner bottles like you mention at the end of this video. I’d be very curious to see that. I’m expecting in December and have bought the kiinde bottle system starter set. I work in childcare and have had a few babies in my care who have used the system and I loved it as a provider so I’m hoping to use it with my own baby. Dr Brown bottles have been my least favorite working in childcare, so this was interesting to me. Thank you for taking the time to make a review like this!

Not All Hero’s Wear Capes!! Thank you sir, thank you🙏 you’re awesome! Yes PLEASE do the playtex Drop Ins (with the liners) , maybe the Mam one too I was wondering about. I got free bottles from samples and welcome boxes for baby #3 ; I used playtex drop ins (liners) for my other two, this was before all the different boxes and gift bags n stuff, and I never had an issue with gas or colic...:but boy my newborn (well he’s now 6 weeks) is miserable with gas since I started supplementing from breastmilk ~ I wanted to try the other bottles I never did with my Other children : I got Avent, Mam and Dr Browns in those samples and gift bags/boxes and was primarily using avent and seeing this explains a lot (avent having lots of bubbles) so I purposely opened the Mam one but it also seems to have lots of tiny bubbles from making formula? Weird. Anyway you’re awesome and I look forward to seeing more videos from you, thank you! New subscriber

This is the best demo I've seen on bottles. And Im actually wondering why our tommee tippee seems to produce less bubbles than our playtex. Has anyone had the same experience? What could be the possible reason when it was clearly shown here that playtex is better than tommee tippee?

Thanks for the excellent video, I brought a pack of 6 Dr browns just because it looked good & of course the claim that it will have less bubbles on the box from a clearance sale. But baby still looks uncomfortable after a feed from the bottle, might be my formula, mums breast feed seems ok but the top up with the formula looks like it causes some discomfort & baby passes alot of wind smelly too almost like an adult one. Going to see the GP.

Do you have the link to the other bottle you mentioned last, Sir?
@scottdang47042 жыл бұрын
Hi Dr. Thank you for this test. I do have some concerns regarding your testing methodology.. I don't think measuring the amount of bubbles being made alone is indicative of how well the bottle works to prevent ingestion of air. Your testing favors a specific kind of design, such that allows air to be vented from the bottom of the bottle, which inherently prevents air from passing up through the milk via the nipple and thus creating bubbles. With normal sealed bottles, air has only one inlet and that is through the nipple. So yes, air bubbles will be created, but that doesn't necessarily mean babies will ingest the air bubbles. For instance, Philips Avent bottles have a mechanism that compartmentalizes the nipple from the rest of the bottle, and has unique one-way venting mechanism that allows air to leave the nipple compartment, leaving a steady volume of solid fluid in the nipple compartment, from which the baby will feed. It's not a perfect design but it prevent pretty much any air from being ingested if the bottle is used correctly. There will be bubbles in the bottle, so to use that as a measure of its performance is simply incorrect. Anyway it was an interesting video. But I hope you put more thought into the testing approach before making final conclusions. ps. I am a father who has done research into bottles for my newborn. Professionally, I am a quality assurance testing expert and think deeply about how products function and perform.

Yes, the video provides us a simplest way to inform and just to give us a rough idea about air bubbles. I would like to see a technical / comprehensive video btw.

Avent Natural and Lansinoh Momma have vents built into the silicone nipple perimeter/flange. One needs to make sure to hold the bottle with these small holes rotated to the top. If you do this, air won’t go through the formula or breast milk. This is explained in the instructions that come with them.

Dr browns are created to have a constant flow especially for those babies without good enough suction to not a great suction at all, cleft babies etc. But, if you're referring to where the bottle meets the lid, that only happens if- 1. Dishwasher is used to clean in which causes valve shrinkage, dishwashing is not recommended. (Plus speaking of dishwashing, it usually causes yellow/orange discoloration to the bottle/parts itself and left over smells. If you ever have smells I recommend filling with water and add in a tspn of baking soda and dawn soap and let sit overnight then wash with soap water, air dry. Itll come right out. If discoloration occurs in your bottles you could fill with water and add both a small capful of peroxide and tbspn baking soda stir then let sit overnight then wash with soapy water rinse, air dry. It could help as long as the color wasnt baked in completely due to being heated from dishwasher or steam). 2. Bottle was filled above the fill line. Always stay below that fill line. 3. If formula feeding, always mix it in a tiny pitcher then pour into the bottle. This way no air bubbles in which can cause leakage due to rising but also so you can keep chunks of milk from getting up into the tube and valve. You want that milk mixed completely. When done in a pitcher too, you can tell you've mixed up the milk more throughout. I've used Dr. Browns for over 17 years and I've gotta say, they are the best bottles out of all I've tried. And I've tried all just to do it and still Dr. Browns beats the rest. Even children I've babysat and babies I've had to take in through the years that were previously breastfed, they were changed babies with the gas a fussiness, it literally changed worth a quickness. Always satisfied tummies even my GERD reflux babies. Both of my last two had GERD both NICU for weeks upon coming home. I used the bottles even in the NICU since birth all the way up til the very moment they were done with bubba's all together. The sippy option and handles allow us now to carry on the use of these bottles even more now, such a great way to save money as well being able to just switch the nipple to sippy and there you go. I highly recommend them to everyone. 🤗💗 The playtex ones he had up there they come out with those 18 or so years ago I remember buying them just when they come out they cost just as much as a dr browns did. The only thing I did not like was the bottom part where air is allowed in, those sometimes turned slimy and then turned white almost when they were clear when I first purchased them. I dont prefer my bottles to change color or leach anything that's not the original whatsoever for my babys wellbeing so when I experience that, nope. Tommy Tippe werent bad but the pieces were too tiny to find in bubba dishwater and the scratch easy too. I even had a lid explode when it hit the concrete literally cracked in half. Yeah not good. I've dropped many dr browns even one flew off the car lol one time and it was a lil scratched but it didnt destroy that bottle whatsoever. Talk about a bottle. lol

You could buy the for me on the picture so you can do the formula on the side that way you can just pour your formula into the bottle and it cuts back on the air in the colic or you can just get one of those cheap protein Shaker bottles and put your formula on that and refrigerate it
@63device3 жыл бұрын
I suspect Big Bubbles don't go through the tiny nipple hole and micro bubbles don't cause much discomfort even if they do It's great that bottles are being designed with those bubble preventing features but I don't see how this helps with gas Isn't gas produced when baby stomach digests milk. That has not much to do with bubbles in bottles Would love to understand this more
