At home I play bass in my livingroom using the One 10. Recently a neighbour was complaining about the "noise" ... I live in a street wich only has detached houses..... Apparently the low frequencies the One 10 produces travel much further then I could possibly imagine ... (and I wasn't even playing that loud... :-)

So my takeaway is: Excellent cabinets, compact and light, efficient, loud AF if needed, and from the website, you can paint the baffles purple if I ask. Well that's just fantastic :D Back in my younger guitar days I had a Genz Benz ported 2x12 that absolutely destroyed any 4x12 it was thrown against (it was still as big as them, though lol...), so I can definitely get behind well-designed cabinets with less drivers laughing at bigger ones.

To be honest if I was a guitar cab company I'd just put two high wattage drivers in a "4 x 12" size cabinet, port it and tune to 85 Hz. I'd vertical stack the drivers and have them in a baffle facing different directions. Money saved on 2 drivers per cab.

The crossover in the BT2 is worth a mention. Turned down, the hifi top end can be attenuated if desired for a ‘warmer’ sound, closer to the ST, but it doesn’t ever sound muffled.

We can definitely do a demo video but in terms of explanation I can do it in one sentence: The Super Compact T also includes a tweeter, crossover, and level control for the tweeter; with the tweeter control set to zero the SCT sounds exactly the same as the SC.

Hello, First, congrats fort this no-frills, clear explanation of the range. Well, I’m a very happy user of a Little Bastard 30 paired with a 410ABM cab I know that Barfaced is focused on high output cabs, but my question is about the opposite... quality sound at low volumes. Now I play nearly (and in these pandemic times “nearly” could easily be replaced by “only”) at home, somme jazz-like stuff using a Fender Precision 51 (hand made 51 pickup and usual rounds) and a fretless Mayones (Bartolini / Rotosound nylon strings). As I’m moving in a smaller flat I’m looking to reduce the size while keeping the Little Bastard that fits perfectly my needs, I’m evaluating the idea by replacing the 410 by something much smaller but quite similar sounding. If the fact of playing a 410 at home sounds strange, let’s say, that I like a “real bass sound” especially at low (home) volume, not a thin one I go with previous bass combos, the 15” I had, produced to much vibrations and used to make my neighbor crazy because the whole flat mutates in a giant cab :) while the 410 did produce a real bass sound with less vibrations (likely less deep lows, but far enough for me) and at low volume the 410ABM sounds quite good. I don’t play loud (home use). Would the One 10 be a good choice, or would the Super Midget be more suited ? Thanks

Another great video Alex. Missed some of the captions as they weren’t on screen long. Could you put them all in the description next time so we can go back and catch what we missed afterwards? Would be interested in a back to back comparison between BB2 and BT2 to see whether they are the same or the bigger cab makes an audible difference. Also a room mic demo of your single driver 12’s and 10’s against a live drummer and maybe a guitarist showing how even a tiny cab can work in a band setup without problems. Moving the mic location to show the dispersion would be good too.

The 2 x 12" & tweeter, Big Baby 2 ? sounds like the 1 for me, i normally use 15" bass units but i like those punchy deep 12" drive units.....nice...is it a flat enough response to use ir's live ? Obviously won't be the exact same but close would be nice...in 4ohm preferably Cheers

@barefaced, I wanted to get some better sounding cabs than my Mesa Boogie Powerhouse cabs. Something lighter, more. powerful, more strength in the bottom end at volume and also good off axis sound. Basically everything that was missing with the Mesa cabs which were good until I started requiring volume on outdoor festivals, or large stages. After some searching on like decided Barefaced seemed the way to go as I really wanted something honest sounding to get the best out of my alembic basses. As it happens everything worked out perfectly. BT2 is an incredible cab and when I have taken it on gigs and stood it next to the standard Ampeg bass rig, faces change once they hear it. I then got a BB2 for smaller gigs or when I need to travel light. It became my main cab when I was in a classic rock house band and I never had to worry about anyone trashing it by being ham fisted on their basses. I rounded it off with a Dubster II which is just ridiculous on the bottom end and twinned with the BB2 gives me a great range. On it's own the Dubster is great for reggae. Though for non reggae gigs I use it on a separate channel to the BB2 on my rig so I can just add enough bottom end to give me some heft without overpowering the sound. I can't imagine a better set of cabs. Although a Meyer dealer in the states is trying to persuade me to get a meyer rig. Not that I would make that outlay but what do you think of those cabs compared to BF?

I'd expect the right Meyer Sound rig to be extremely good but probably quite a lot heavier. And certainly a LOT more expensive. You only have to read their white papers and patents to see what brilliant thinking and design goes into their speakers - true pioneers of PA and a big inspiration to the Barefaced 12XN models.

I did some research regarding cabs that can hit low frequencies, which brought me here. I have a question regarding the low bass roll off on the 6x10 and 8x10 cabs. Both of these are the only cabs listed that go as low as 25 hz. Would the 4x10 + 2 X10 be able to hit 25 hz or is this limited to the bigger models? I imagine this is partially due to the cab design. The Eight10 and Six10 are tuned a bit lower - but it isn't really relevant because there's almost no music happening down at 25Hz. Why are you wanting to go that low?

I love your cabs so much! I've been thinking about them since I played one by chance at a gig, really incredible. I was wondering if you'd recommend using the 210 vertically or would that create dispersion issues?

I should write an article and do a video about the Two10S. The dispersion is equally good either way around. If you're in a boomy/muddy room then using it vertically can help because that changes the cab tuning and the baffle-step frequency, tightening up the lows and making the low-mids less fat. Which model did you get to gig with?

Are those LF1400 subwoofers still being made? 24 kg in an active 18 is inspiring for mobile DJs. I'm wondering whether they walked across the floor from the output though.

LF1400 is no longer in production as the amplifier module in it was discontinued. The enclosures were incredibly stiff, very complex bracing inside - never heard of one going walkabout!

@@BarefacedAudio those Faital woofers look good. B&C, RCF and precision devices also make some stout woofers. I do a bit of DIY speaker building myself. I'm running Kappalite 3012lf in 3.3 cubic foot boxes (they were going to go in a folded horn but never got the space and wouldn't fit in the car). Also have Bill Fitzmaurice Omnitop 12 on highs. I found triangular ports are good for bracing the sides. I corner loaded two of them in a village hall - surprisingly powerful bass down to the upper 30s. The Omnitop 12 could easily outrun them though. They did scoot their way back from the floor though as each cab only weighed about 25-30 lbs. I have only had that problem with the cabs facing into the corner though so it seems like the soundwaves can kick off the wall or something. What is weird is even with a table on top of the two units and two extra speakers on top, they could still move away from the wall. I suppose the passive version doesn't need the amp module, though my Peavey IPR1600 won't give them their full potential - other than any sensitivity increase from 96dB 2.83V 1m which is what one of my 12s gives. Both of them work out at 98.5 dB "1 watt" 1m (half space). Gotta love the acoustic gains of 2 close proximity woofers.

I've spent quite some time on this and found that with an 8" you lose a lot of max output but not as much size or weight as you'd hope to and the cost is almost the same as an equivalent 10".

I want a full power distance test of an 8 x 10 with a 2 kilowatt power amp and bass and pedal of your choice against a common sound e.g. someone playing a drum kit. It would be interesting to see Johan Segeborn test the cab at its limits, perhaps against an ampeg 8 10.

Hello, currently owning a Mesa Walkabout 1x12 Combo with an extra 1X12, I like the rig, but it's quite directionnal and maybe not very efficient. I've heard Timmy C's rig in person backstage at a festival and loved the 610 sound, I wonder if this would be a good fit for my hybrid walkabout. I'm playing fingerstyle, with regular incursion of overdrive/fuzz. looking to have quite a bit of midrange presence , not just boom boom lows. And I LOVE to dig in

Christophe Malpas Is the Walkabout 212 stack loud enough? It’s a great sounding amp but not the most powerful so more efficient speakers will help! How do you like the tone of your rig when you’re standing in the right place and it’s not being cranked beyond where it sounds its best?

@@BarefacedAudio I really like it, It's kind of loud enough, mostly the volume is around 1/3, but I'm an advocate of not being too loud, and PA should take over when needed, I calibrate my rig for 'Loud enough for rehearsals'. What I'm maybe missing is the tube 'slower response ' I think it's maybe a lower damping . I feel I should drive to the barefaced office (I'm in belgium) to compare
