With Olivier Giroud nearing an arrival to LAFC, which big stars might come to MLS next?!
00:00 - Should MLS be targeting (older) stars still?

06:24 - No. 2 🇩🇪
08:47 - No. 3 🇲🇽
10:31 - No. 4 🇧🇪
11:52 - No. 5 🇯🇲
12:44 - In the future? 🇫🇷
14:05 - In the future? 🇲🇽
15:05 - In the future? 🇨🇷

MLS haters still like to act like this is the MLS of 20 years ago and nothing will change their minds

I said it over 10 years ago, MLS will become a top 3 league in the world and people laughed and every year, although still quite far, it inches closer and closer towards this.

Love the #content as always Tom! Werner and Origi would be a true indicator that MLS has turned a corner in terms of reputation and being a league guys want to play in. Guys who *should* be in their prime, with obvious talent that would shine in this league, but not waiting until they're 32+ to come over and play is what we need more of. Gotta stay on youth recruitment and training though. Fans will come for Messi, but stay for Cavan Sullivan if you can give them young talent year in and year out to get excited about.

Frankly I don’t care how old they are, as long as they can play effectively. We MLS fans are insecure about our “standing” in the world. A goal by a 37 year old counts the same as a 27 year old. Tom makes a good point that Brazil has a lot of older players. People will just find another reason to hate on MLS… heck people are complaining about this 10 second injury rule… why are you taking away the dark arts? Then they turn around and complain why Neymar is rolling on the ground for a minute.

Yeah but that 37 year old won't be around nearly as long as that 27 year old potentially- more time to watch a player excel than if they just come for their last year or two!

MLS is known for being a league that is built on parity. Given that many of these big overseas names only seem interested in playing for the likes of Miami, LAFC, and LAG, do you think this parity continues in the league in the next decade? Could this lead to super teams where players are willing to take pay cuts to play for these teams and these teams finish at the top of the standings every year?

Players will follow the money. Pay a player enough, and he'll move to Kansas to play for an college team.

Every big league in the world signs players in their 30s past their peak levels. All of them. That doesn’t make you a retirement league. Everyone likes seeing big names, even when they’re older. The key is whether that most of your signings or mostly young players. MLS is clearly a younger players’ league. Anyone who clings to this retirement league nonsense is either not following MLS or has another agenda.

Jack graelish to Charlotte FC in the Summer is an interesting “maybe” he’s shown he follows the club and is still in contact with Dean smith

Keylor Navas was fantastic for Forest last year. Like, he was a big reason they stayed up after Dean Henderson went down. I know what you're saying about GK not getting DP slots in the MLS. But he would be worth every penny for a season or two of top top GK play.

MLS should highlight their big names AND their ability to find talent for the league. Also, it would help to generate interest in scouting and youth players.

I would lean heavily towards LA. Two NBA teams to attend games. I could see him playing in a Celebrity all star game too. And most people wouldn’t even recognize him on the street lol

I prefer quality over all rosters with depth over "stars". MLS is more into marketing over trying to simply rules to have better quality rosters that will raise the quality over all in the league.

As good as he is, Origi is not so lock-certain a finisher to get high DP money in MLS. Ask any Liverpool fan; they love him as a cult hero, but he's not consistent. On a good MLS team with lots of service, he'll score 20 just on talent. On an average team, where he has to create his own chances, who's going to pay league-leading DP Money for a guy who isn't guaranteed to get double digits?

the US should embrace the retirement league label your getting the best of best players they might not be at their athletic prime but their skills are still there passing, movement, wisdom and leadership can all raise the bar of the league. MLS players can learn from them. 2 more American kids will be drawn into the sport and grow US soccer

MLS should just try getting the top players in Mexico. It would attract more Mexican viewers

They are not getting away with it. Since Messi has arrived they have been forced to sell almost all their highest paid players and replace them with U22 players. The likes of Pizarro, Miller, Gregore, Mota, Yedlin, and several others, are all gone

Gosh this league sucks. Columbus gives up a goal in the first 20 minutes, NE gives up TWO. They're DONE. Does anyone think they can come back? LOL not a chance. MLS = washed, overpaid retirees + replacement level scrubs. Zero ambition. It's embarrassing.
