I’m an old dude with old dude reflexes, not like you whippersnappers. For me, the biggest difference is Radahn is so much faster out of idle. If I am just a little bit tired, he is just too fast for me to reliably reaction roll the openings of his combos, even post-nerf. I don’t have that problem with Malenia. And I don’t think it is an issue of experience with the bosses. I track the number of tries I need to fight a boss on every run and Radahn is so much more difficult than Malenia, I’ve already fought him hundreds of times more, even though the DLC only came out a few months ago. I did, however, learn how to dodge Waterfowl much faster than I might have on my own by referencing KZbin videos. Great video, BTW. Another interesting thing to try to measure is how often you can fit in fully-charged R2s, and how often you can stagger the boss. I think Radahn is harder for sure, but I am a bit more comfortable, post-nerf, fitting in charged R2s.

It's not because you are too old, I am somewhat young and I still find some of consort radahn attacks are too fast with very little time to react I get caught off guard so many times it's the only reason I can't beat him no hit, compared to malenia I can easily beat her no hit

In the case of RL1, Radahn is for sure the hardest one of the two. I didn't update my game so in my case i talk about pre-nerf Radahn. There are several different builds for malenia that makes the fight easier (without even using broken strat like giant hunt or bleed ). The fact that you can stagger her so easily makes her phase 2 pretty trivial. While Radahn (even with max blessing), I found only one build that make the fight not like impossible. He has so many moves that you can't punish because you always have to have good positioning in case of cross slash.

Radahn remains unnerfed ng4+ beyond. Check for yourself. They just made easier for the avarage player on initial playthoughs. Even the scale of miquella's nuke remains the same size, as big as before. He remains unchanged

Melania difficulty spiked when she pull out either clone or waterfowl, even with mix ups her normal moves are pretty easy to deal with, but learning process is more confusing. Consort Radahn is consistently hard throughout the fight with his attack being demanding to avoid, but too rigid of a moveset does make him easier to understand if you have a grasp of learning pattern. So idk, depends on what you have a harder time in.

Even post nerf Radahn took me at least an hour to kill. Meanwhile Malenia took me two tries in that same run and that was only because I forgot how to deal with the clone attack otherwise I would have killed her in just first attempt. So Radahn is definitely the harder one.

Radahn all the way, so many ways to cheese Melania in comparison. Both are extremely brutal with no prior knowledge of the fight, but once you have that knowledge malenia is clearly easier

Radahn is more difficult in terms of aggressiveness, but you also have to analyze the damage they do, the amount of life they have, the weaknesses and above all the difficulty of dodging each of their attacks, in addition to the ease with which each one can parry them. Malenia's strengths: -She has two health bars. -She heals with each attack. -She causes rot. -She does more damage in critical attacks. -Her attacks are faster. -She has fewer attacks to parry. -Her special attacks are more lethal and are harder to dodge. -She dodges and avoids some attacks. -She can mix attacks. Radahn, Promised Consort's strengths: -He has fewer weaknesses to affinities except for stun and bleed. -He has fewer openings. -He has much more poise. -He causes holy damage. -He has more special attacks. -He has more health in proportion to each of Malenia's health bars. -He slows down attacks (due to size issues). -He has a femboy. Both bosses should be analyzed more thoroughly.

There is an attack by Radhan in the second phase, where he throws those spheres on the ground, but quickly he goes up and turns those clones again, and then releases the spheres again, I think to force this, you have to stay part of him when he pulls the character

My hot take is that , even Pre-patch, Malenia is overall a harder boss fight. Even apart of Waterflow Dance, Malenia is a damn though boss.Most of Radahn difficulty relied on pure attacks hard to avoid that, once memorized and got the trick, the difficulty started to go down the drain(which is why I think that the people who completed Radahn pre nerf felt even more the nerd).Malenia on the other hand, has a moveset more complex than Radahn and far more reactive as well that can catch you of guard even if memorized. She isn´t as readable as first neither, having to pay close attention for you to see if she is gonna extend her combo. Radahn mostly have fixed combos though. That alone with Waterflow is enough for me to consider that Malenia is as difficult as Radahn, but we haven´t ended yet. Malenia is one of, if not the, tankiest boss of the base game with a insane 33.000HP, plus that she is very able to heal herself if she attacks you, and this will happen very often if you are not a experimented player, that can make her have even 38k+ HP on a poor case. Sure, you might Argue that Radahn has 47k HP, but that number is inflated and we should keep the Scadutree Blessing in mind. At the level you should be fighting Radahn, he must have an about 24k HP really, which is much less than Malenia. And as a bonus, remind you that Phase 2 Malenia can deal Scarlet Rot. The only things imo that Radahn may have over Malenia is that she is more easily cheesable and have more windows, but apart of that... I think that Malenia is still the hardest boss on the game. Is not that I mind this though, i´m even happy about Radahn patch.

The Malenia moveset is trivialized by rolling backwards though, except for the triple slash if you're midrolling. Only the triple slash and the special attacks are hard :/

In my opinion, the cross slash was the only thing that made consort radahn all that hard to begin with. Now that it’s patched he’s probably one of the easiest fights in the game. Waterfowl dance and the rot ghost attack still… exist so Malenia is still the harder fight for me, although neither bosses are the hardest in the game imo let alone all of souls.

I have beaten both of them, and in particular Radahn before the nerf. Malenia took me 2 hours of attempts, Radahn pre nerf 6 hours, but even though i had this difference, i would say the hardest remains Malenia and for a few reasons. 1. Because of her great rune Malenia can heal herself even you are using a shield, Radahn can't. 2. The attack range of Radahn is more difficult to read just in the second phase of the fight, while Malenia has some attacks that can cover a very large space from the beginning of the fight. 3. Radahn second phase begins when you take 40% of his life. For Malenia things are different because you basically have to completely defeat her first phase to reach the second one in which Malenia recovers almost 80% of her life (and i am not considering her power to heal with every attack she does). 4. Even after the most powerful attack of Radahn you have more chances to survive rather than with Malenia.

literalyy shield poke is the only thing. malenia is so much more easily exploitable. You can stun and flatten her with various ashes of war, cheese her instantly with ordoviss vortex, bloodboon ritual, parries, and anything that will stagger her in one hit like a greatsword. its no competition lol you do not need to get good at malenia with certain builds at all

i just finished the game a few days ago, fighting both bosses post nerfs. for me personally maleina was a lot harder than radahn, taking around an hour and a half of tries, whereas radahn was around 45 minutes to an hour. i wonder how itll change in repeat runs

Okay I have to rate it on how much trouble I have when fighting each bosses then I would say I have more trouble beating Melania than when I fought Radahn. If you can't deal with the waterfowl dance you are basically done.

Malenia is way easier since she has a breakable poise making it easier to exploit her. That's why it's quite possible to beat Malenia with any build. You can't do that with Radahn. It took me 16 attempts to beat Malenia for the first time and just 3 attempts to beat her a second time. But it took me at least 70 attempts to finally beat pre-nerfed Radahn. He's also the only boss to force me to change builds. It's not even close.

For first time players, Malenia is harder. She has more openings sure but it is balanced out by her healing from hits. First time players will absolutely get hit a lot and heal her. It's not obvious from the video but medium roll and light roll make huge difference for Malenia's difficulty and not so much for Radahn's. First time players will likely have medium roll cause they don't feel safe with light armor. Ultimately, they are both really close imo. They both have moves that are unintuitive to learn and require a guide. Malenia is just slightly harder. On replays though, Radahn is harder. Cause the aggression and openings are the same. The only way to end the fight faster is through build optimization. But for Malenia, once you know to use light roll and able to dodge her well, the healing from hits issue become non-existent. And you are free to use so many different build against her. Not so much for Radahn unless you don't mind prolonging the fight.

Aside from grabs there was very few attack in prior games which could "unfairly" kill you. In Elden Ring they seen to have no idea how to spice up the combat so there's delayed attacks and random bullshit from moon knight memes. She has stick insect poise, her openings are a lot bigger than you think if you can pinpoint which attacks don’t have hyperarmor (the ones that do are the kick, waterfowl, the piercing thrust, and the rest of her aerial attacks). Even with lifesteal, her health isn’t over inflated like the dlc bosses so it isn’t a massive issue when comparing it with Radahn’s bullshits.
