I want to say Franklin has the absolute best house (his Vinewood Hills house) in GTA V. It looks the most comfortable, with a huge pool, huge living area, huge kitchen, etc. But to say it's the safest too is stretching it. It's way too open with too many glass windows and whatnot. He also seems to have little to no security measures on the house.

I started doing some RP recently and I actually chose to... ahem... "take over" the O'Neill's Ranch. The interior of the house is pretty f-ed up, but so far, none of the previous owners have managed to "reacquire" the property. All it takes is a sniper rifle and someone able to use it. I'd say it's a neat spot, plus, it's pretty big, and I lived in there alone up until a few weeks ago. I'd always take the Ranch since I'm a farmer and no amount of horses or horsepower are ever gonna get me close to a city again. At least in real life, that is.

Martin Madrazo has a second house out past West Vinewood. It's pretty nice and has a large horse stable. I don't think the O'Neill farmhouse gets rebuilt after Trevor destroys it. But you can explore it thoroughly in that mission once you kill all the O'Neills. It's large and rambling and kinda interesting.
