Which Colocasia to Buy? Building a Colocasia Collection of Elephant Ear Plants for Your Garden

I have purchased 32 varieties of Colocasia Elephant Ear plants. I did not have to buy so many Colocasias. If I had to do it all over again I would narrow down my Colocasia collection to 10 to 15 plants. This collection will eliminate many of the plants that look alike and keep the Colocasias to give a wide range of colors, sizes, and characteristics.
The Colocasias that I would buy for a Colocasia collection would be - Diamond Head, Maui Gold, Illustris, Black Beauty, Aloha, Fontanesii, Bikini-Tini, Jack's Giant, White Lava, Mojito, and depending on your taste the Pharaohs Mask and Waikiki. Even though it is no longer classified as a Colocasia Gigantea anymore, I would grow the reclassified Leucocasia Gigantea for its large leaves and size.

I will keep this video for my next purchases of colocasias! You are right! Colocasias that grow in clumps have lots of leaves, it's important for a garden. I think my esculenta colocasia escapes too far to spread. I don't know if I'll keep it I bought a Mojito colocasia, it was a bulb that never grew. But I never saw clumps of Mojito colocasias. Is there only 2 or 3 leaves? I think the hardest part is to find a good seller. I bought a blue hawaii plant, labelled Black Beauty 😄

There are prettier hybrid Colocasias than the plain green leaves of the esculenta. I like the Royal Hawaiian Colocasia Collection. planthaven.com/collection/royal-hawaiian/ My mojitos only have 2 to 3 leaves, they are not clumping. As you know, I have purchased a few plants that were labelled wrong. At least you didn't make a video on the wrong plant like I do. 😄😄😄

They get full sun from the early morning until late afternoon when they get shaded by the taller canna lilies and bananas.

I have purchased from Brian’s Botanicals, Wellspring Gardens, and Florida Hill Nursery. Brian’s has larger plants, but they’re a little more expensive. Thanks for the recommendations, I found the Milky Way for sale, I will order one in the spring. I can’t find a Yellow Splash, it looks rare and expensive. Where did you buy your plants?
