i don't know for certain, but I think South Korea's dominance in Mania comes from O2Jam and O2Mania I heard it was a huge success in SK back in the early 2000's

2:38 basically there is a game called 02jam which is basically like mania but it came out years before osu mania and o2jam was insanely popular in south korea and because of that alot of top players there are korean (also most koreans dominate the 7keys mode and o2jam was on 7k) (also there is a 4k (which most people play) leaderboard which is alot more diverse then the global and 7k leaderboard)

something to note is mania 4k and 7k are very different in terms of pp as 7k is what dominates most of the mania gamemode all together as pp in 7k is way bigger compared to 4k, the number 1 4k mania player isnt even in the top 100 globally showing how stacked 7k is

I'm not Korean, but my theory for South Korean players being more prevalent in catch and mania is that they got a lot more exposure to those modes prior to osu thanks to games like o2jam and ez2catch. There's also games like djmax and the ez2dj/ez2ac series that are somewhat similar to mania

the reason why south korea is dominant on mania or any vsrg in general is because of predecessors like o2jam where a lot of veterans are from (jakads, dressurf are part of them). yz1155 is one of the few players that learned the game through mania

As soon as mania appeared in osu!, koreans started flooding the game and turning it into o2jam. What can I say? They succeeded and now osu!mania = o2jam (LN shitfest), and let's be honest, very few people outside S.Korea love/play o2jam even knowing that it exists.

Very simple... Osu is a game in English with an english website. While SK, Poland and JP can try and play, there are still many strong players who don't/can't understand English as it is not their main language. That's why they cannot beat USA.
