Removing the firekeeper removes the bonfire helping the undead on their way to their eventual death. Seath: *Tells gywn how to kill dragons out of envy, nearly kills his own race, fails to become immortal, does horrible experiments to mimic immortality, and dies shrieking* Bayle: *Throws hands with Placidussax for going afk, loses his limbs before tactically retreating, starts dragon race war, spares Igon with less limbs to fight him again, and dies summoning lightning one last time* In all seriousness, I think a neat comparison could be made between these two dragons for how similar yet drastically different they are.
@Battleguild2 ай бұрын
Seath does achieve immortality through Lichdom by making the Primordial Crystal his Phylactery. For as long as the crystal was unbroken or he survived to repair it, Seath effectively had true immortality. (It was his own version of the Ancient Dragon's Stone Scales.) He also had other achievements, such as: Grandfather of Sorcery Obtained accursed knowledge Created numerous monstrosities Sired Half-Dragon Crossbreeds Enslaved Midir for the Gods Defeated Havel the Rock Defeated Big Hat Logan Defeated the Chosen Undead canonically at least once. 2nd most influential character in the entirety of Dark Souls. While his death wasn't a roar nor a shriek, it does come off more as a bellow of frustration however.

Seath is more morally ambiguous IMO since he had a reason to do what he did, rejected by his kind exiled by his kind.

Aldrich is easily number one. It's not just that he would devour human flesh. He ate them while they were still alive and it wasn't just humans, but mainly children. The deacons would collect orphaned kids and in turn would feed them to Aldrich to keep him satisfied and we can tell from Anri's description and the battle with Aldrich, that he ate them while they were still alive. Sulyvahn only contributed to Aldrich's gluttonous ass because he was trying to become more powerful and increase his standing. In a kingdom where children are sacrificed alive, the one doing the devouring is the most evil.

Never heard of your channel, but you’ve got a new fan. Always love hearing an analysis on Sulyvahn’s character. As a longtime FromSoft fan (got DS1 release day when I was like 13 and fell in love) and I genuinely believe he’s their best, subtly written character. Every single bad thing that happens in Lothric you can chalk up to him, either directly or vaguely. Profaned Flame/Yhorm’s entire kingdom getting torched? Sulyvahn did it. Lothric finding an outside influence to convince him to remove himself from his duties? (Not evil on its own, but this outsid influence clearly has evil intentions.) Sulyvahn. The HORRIBLE situation of the capital, Anor Londo, Aldrich, , potentially Priscilla, potentially Nito, Gwyndolin who is legitimately in the middle of being devoured alive (you can hear his screams subtly in Aldrich’s fight,) Dancer, and Vordt, all of their miserable situations? Sulyvahn did it. Granted: Aldrich isn’t so much in a horrible situation, but a horrible being inflicted on the rest but Aldrich is almost this instinctual, almost bestial force. Sulyvahn let him loose. There’s even subtle hints that he’s responsible for Wolnir and the Abyss Watcher’s fall. He may have killed Iudex Gundyr’s fire keeper too, the last two are more vague. He is heavily implied to have influenced the split in the Painted World ideologies too and creating the awful state it’s in. All of this likely because he was curious and insecure. He’s the closest to a genuine main antagonist in the whole Souls franchise, but they put him halfway through the game and you can easily assume he’s just another regular boss. He’s done more direct damage than any Souls antagonist, arguably even Gwyn. By far their best character imo. Let’s also not forget that while Seathe created Priscilla, he likely did it through rape. So while she’s a good entity, he doesn’t necessarily get points for this one as a good deed.

I’ve come once more to play the devil’s advocate. Pontiff Sulyvahn is easily the most misunderstood character in the franchise, that’s not to say he’s good. Just misunderstood. Pontiff Sulyvahn left the painting of Ariendel and this painting was in need of fire. It is outright stated that Sulyvahn left the painting because he was in a place of loss and he has never experienced loss. However there’s nothing saying he didn’t care, in fact you find one of his sorceries at his supposed mother. One of the first things Sulyvahn found once in the outside world was the Profaned Flame. This could be interfered that Sulyvahn was searching for flame to burn the painting, as was tradition. He may have not belonged but it was his home, and perhaps he trying to make things right for the inhabitants. But the Profaned Flame corrupts all, it was not a simple “burning ambition” that grew within him; it was the power of the abyss corrupting his mind. (To say it only have him ambition is not a good take because it corrupted all the citizens). Immediately after being corrupted; he sook out the holy kingdom of Anor Londo and slowly but surely did everything and anything to stop the linking of fire by: 1) Rising through the ranks of the Darkmoon knights 2) Poisoning Gwyndolin (current figurehead of the linking of the fire) 3) Trapping Yorshka (captain of the Darkmoon knights) 4) Turning notable holy knights into mindless beasts 5) enslaving all First Flame advocates and twisting them into abysmal creatures 6) taking control of the holy city 7) self proclaiming himself as Pontiff 8) allying with the one lord of cinder that is against the linking of the fire 9) feeding the figurehead god to the lord of cinder All to end the first flame because the abyss within him controlled him to do so

Nashandra was pretty evil, but she was just a shard of MANUS. Manus has to be the most 'evil', IMHO.
@klapacjuszanimomon85013 ай бұрын
I just don't understand putting Patches in a bad tier especially after his whole arc in ds3 that proves that there is more to this character then just being a dick. I think punishing humans greed is his actual purpose that his extremely devoted to. and I think that purpose was what kept him alive and not hollowed for supposedly hundreds of years. It makes a lot of sense since we know that Darkness and humanity is affected and corrupted by evil emotions. Like in case of Manus it was suffering, hateret and rage, creating the abyss and in case of Aldrich it was, greed, gluttony, hunger for power that ended up with creation of other Branch of Dark, called the Deep. Both are corrupted and evil version of darkness and probably the things that Gwyn's was afraid of and accidentally caused by restraining humans nature. I think the other reason why i would consider Patches moraly grey is because of his friendship with Greirat who's arguably one of the best characters in terms of morality in this world, together with Solarie and Anion knights of Catarina that we got to know. And Patches risked his life to help him when he could then fairly warned him that he won't be able to do the same in a lothric castle And Patches story in ringed city actually is a another proof for his purpose. At the end of times even Unbreakable finally goes hollow BECAUSE HE FORGETS HIS goal. Then when he's second man to us to break the undead curse in the whole history of DS. His goal once again drifts through his mind. That is the proof that it is not a simple excuse to be a dick. He kicks us this one last time of the tower stairs into the place we actually wanted to go and helps us fight the boss and Express his gratitude for our help. It is truly buffering to me of how underrated NPC he is in these games. He's literally my favorite and literally one of the most important for understanding the lore. I won't say his good because his methods are bad And in this case, the ends do not justify the means. But putting him after anyone that was before him is a major misunderstanding. Nashandra is literally soulless monster, Gwyn was a prideful tyrant that made an entire race lifes miserable. We can say that it's the same case with patches, with end&means, but the difference is that Patches ends had actually good consequences and Gwyn thought he's doing smth good but it turned out to be one of the greatest sins ageinst free will of humanity and on the other end patches helps us regain this freedom. Frida is a another Tyrant making people's lives miserable. And Smough is a cannibalistic sadist... what there's more to say? Except that I love this video and love to talk about this shit xD 17:10 "Devoured Gwyndolyn's ass" Would.... What?.. 🗿

Sullyvan has a bit of a sad backstory, though only the "Boy born into total filth and became a total bastard" kind of thing. Also, as he took the Dancer as his personal warrior/dancer, possibly he donated Rosaria to Aldritch before his link, and.... well, we know what Aldritch did to Rosaria. There is also the theory, but just a theory, that Aldritch eated his own children from the forced intercourse with Rosaria. Miyazaki, calm down please. P.s: Taking Japanese translation, the Depths in Ds3 is the most horrible thing imaginable. We can see them in the Cathedral, rappresented by horrible insects (while normal Dark is rappresented by good insects for Japan culture, like angels looking like cicadas) and also in the Dlc, the little strange human-creature during the first part of Ringed City, those who create giants Humanity. That is the future of humanity if Aldritch wins, and his plan is make it happen, let the Fire fade and rule over a world of abominations, corruption, stagnation and depravation. Soooo, i think he's even worse than Sullyvan.

Gwyn doesn't have a tragic backstory, the only tragic element of his story is that he was so power hungry, that he would rather sacrifice himself, so that his family will never lose power over people. He was also extremaly racist towards people.
@kassahgriffith41563 ай бұрын
He explained that Gwyn did good thing such as the creation of Anor Londo which looked like a prosperous city. Sulhivan only oppressed it's people because of his hunger for power. Basically Gwyn did what he did because he thought it was for the best (again that's what he thought not necesseraly what was the best) and may have done some good things. Sulhivan only did what he did to gain more power and have done nothing but oppressing his ennemies and people since hé gain this power.

@@dannyg4835 Well that's the whole concept of the video, yes Gwyn action had more consequences than Sulhivan's but Gwyn actually had a sort of ambition other than "I just want more power" which Sulhivan had not si that's why I personnaly consider Sulhivan more like a evil person than Gwyn (I'm not saying that Gwyn is a good Guy though)

The statue of Smough at Anor Londo always bothered me, like why would Gwyn make a statue of him? He doesn't even respect him
@mbattalionenjoyer51623 ай бұрын
It’s possible that the statue of Smough was built after Gwyn left Anor Londo to kindle the First Flame.
@JAYbePRINCE3 ай бұрын
It's even more likely that the one who ordered the making of the statue was gwindolin as smough is the only knight left at anor londo gwindolin would want to make sure he doesn't leave and still defends the kingdom.

I think what Seath did to the dragons is justiifiablr, I mean the guy was made an outcast by his own kind just because he was "defective", you can see why he grew anger, rage and "envy" for what the dragons had, they always put him down for what he lacked, but.... What Seath does during the gwyn era is just straight up evil and mad, the guy goes insane and becomes a mad scientist dragon Yes Sulyvhan is easily number 1 or really on pair with aldrich, before I opened the video I already knew these two would be top 2 as all Dark Souls fans know too, what I find interesting is that in a way is that Gwyn and Sulyvhan are on pair with eachother, the diference between the two is that Sulyvhan does the dirty job, which I don't know whats worse, doing bad just because or watching it, being aware and not doing anything, the dude did the worse on humanity, betrayed them, gave his daughter as a "gift" but guess what, if she wakes up the world ends, hes a coward, everything that happens in dark souls is because a p*ssy guy refuses to acept that hes comand will end, and he's a hypocrit, banishing his oldest son and erasing him from history because he sided with the dragons only for gwyn to side with one much before his son
@bloodveil556Ай бұрын
Lautrec isn’t necessarily evil, he’s from carim, which is pretty bent on ending the age of fire and letting the natural cycle take place, so it would make sense that he tries to stop the age of fire by killing the fire keeper and putting the player to a stop before they can link the fire. I think looking at him as an inherently bad guy is wrong, he’s from an entire different culture that wants to end the age of fire, something that most people agree is actually pretty awful because of the undead curse. He’s really annoying and there’s definitely good reason to dislike his character, but to say he’s straight up bad is kinda dishonest to what he’s trying to accomplish. Definitely one of my favorite npcs when you look at things from a different perspective.

DS2 and DS3 have thrones. The Throne is the key to binding the First Flame. Both Nashandra and Yuria guide us towards the coming of the Dark Age. And for this a "marriage" is required. Yuria tells us to find a suitable partner, marry her, and take her Dark Sigil. Just like Vendrick's marriage to Nashandra. I think Nashandra wanted Vendrick to be the Dark Lord. Think about it; A King who defeated the Four Great Ones who once terrorized the land, and who, on his own, without any powerful allies at his side (cough cough, I'm looking at you, Gwyn), subjugated the mighty Giants and took their power. A King who does not believe in miracles and Gods and sees their power as "weak". A King who relied on simple warriors who relied only on their own raw strength in battles. A King whose remorse for his past sins we must show in his face, if only to break his resolve. Vendrick refused to light the First Flame. Because he realized that this was the lie of the Gods. This wouldn't cure the curse. But he didn't want the Dark Age either, because we don't know what the Dark Age will bring. Vendrick only wanted a third way to cure the curse. Who else do you think could be such a good Dark Lord candidate? Vendrick is, in a sense, the Dark Lord that Gwyn fears will emerge from among humans one day. A man who defeated the lords of his time, defeated the giants, and became able to do whatever he wanted with the First Flame. I think Nashandra wants Vendrick to be the Dark Lord. He didn't want her to try to get rid of the Hollows, but to accept them as her own people. Because "A true Ruler carries the weight of their souls." However, Vendrick became depressed and became a recluse. This must have made Nashandra very angry and disappointed. Yes, she only used Vendrick for power and didn't love him. But I think he at least respects her as his wife. She wanted her husband to become the Dark Lord, but he did not want this and left home. I'd like to think Nashandra might have had at least a slight "crush" on Vendrick. Nashandra was a bad woman who did bad things, but I assume she did it all for the Hollows. Thematically, there are similarities with DS3 Yuria. Yuria wants from Ashen One what Nashandra wants from Vendrick. To Nashandra Vendrick, he was “less King than you could imagine.” he says. This is clearly an expression of disappointment. Because Vendrick did not accept that the Hollows were his people and tried to get rid of them. From Nashandra's perspective, this could be interpreted as Vendrick turning his back on his people. Nashandra was evil, but I don't think she was evil. I don't think, at least, that he didn't dislike Vendrick at all. He saw her as a vessel, yes, but he also valued her enough to be disappointed. Nashandra's ultimate goal, the Dark Age, is the age of humanity. If Nashandra was successful, could we call her evil? I don't know, I know I'm trying too hard, but I think at least Nashandra should be "reasonable bad" instead of pure evil.

Killing Sif is unavoidable though, she won't just let you through or give you the ring of Artorias without a fight. She is doing it to protect you technically but there's no peaceful solution.

What about McLloyd? He's one of the most evil characters I know. Undead hunts? Might be the guy who exiled Gwyn's Firstborn. Way of White discovered how Gwyn summoned lightning and made a whole religion around it, and in his arrogance makes different mediums to cast miracles (they're different throughout the Souls series) probably to not make us too strong. And probably made that religion to gain political power. Actually, Lloyd is probably behind most bad things that is painted onto Gwyn. If so he deserves the number 1 spot on this list. Well, next to maybe Seath, Sulyvahn, and Aldrich, which all are fairly excusable in contrast to the feats of McLloyd. Seath, all he ever really knew was the Archdragons, and he was the odd one out in such a power based culture of immortals. Sulyvahn was an inquisitive scholar but naive, and wanted to see more than his safe but enclosed small world, and in his evident solitude as a sorcerer he made up ideas when he saw the Profaned Flame...it's little wonder he went bad, such is the way of life. Aldrich just so happened to get a taste for human flesh. That's a f*ed up thing to like, but it's not his fault he suddenly got a passion for it. Whatever led him to reason that it's good would've come from how the world was shown to him, and how he learned to view the world after that. Those events are happenstance, so at most they're only partially evil. After all, actions aren't the only things that defines one's morality. And McLloyd has no redeeming qualities. Maybe even going so far as to claim he's Gwyn's uncle because Gwyn got popular. He's the worst of the worst.
