@49:54 That line sums up a big reason why people either love or hate DS2. Using a bow isn't 'cheesing'. The areas in DS2 actively try to get you to vary your approach. And the game can punish you pretty hard if you don't

Would love to see you play through the souls trilogy again using a new build with dlc. Playing with a different build is like a night and day in FromSoft games and the dlc is often regarded as the best (and the hardest) content in every game. You could also do a similar video on the rest of FromSoft titles. Bloodborne, Sekiro and Eldenring would make a great comparison, even if they are not connected and harder to compare due to different styles. Still, seeing new players play through these games is always a joy to watch :D PS. Your experience on DS3 could have felt easier because of your choice of weapon. The sellsword twinblades are often talked to be one of the most broken weapons in the game since they inflict massive amounts of stagger. They are super fun to play with tho.

The enemies in the Doors of Pharros didn't attack you because you were in the Rat covenant. The two rat areas (Doors and Grave of Saints) are meant to be PVP areas where members of the Rat covenenat defend it from intruders (other players), so once you join the covenenant the enemies will be on your side. Also if you were that surprised by an "NPC" (it was a player) emoting on you, you really need to play the DS2 DLCs Pulling the lever in Aldia's Keep frees an NPC who has an assassination quest that rewards a lot of useful items for killing basically everyone in Majula. He also sells some spells. However he also shows up as a super strong invader in a few areas, that's the Royal Sorcerer Navlan that killed you in Dragon Aerie. His cell is in the other wing, opposite the lever.
@DreadnoughtDT14 күн бұрын
I don't think you actually have to free him to do the assassination quest, just be hollow and talk to him. In fact I think if you free him you can't do the quest.

YES! Finally it's out! Thank you for doing this in the name of science (although I don't think science is needed to say how bad the bed of chaos is, haha) Now, we need a video on Sekiro, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring!

Crazy coincidence because I just stated playing dark souls last month and it has become one of my favorites! And now one of my already favorite channels is making a video about it.

The back half of DS1 is still so sad for how much potential it had. Alas, it's doodoo garbage for the most part.

Truth. The second half of DS1 is worse than anything DS2 has to offer. But people act like I’m crazy for liking ds2 more than ds1.

Dude, I’ve been binging your videos all days, genuinely a joy to listen to and its great seeing a fellow aussie on the platform. Im shocked you don’t have more subscribers, I think you deserve far more recognition, I’ll be here along for the ride when you blow up man!

I appreciate that, especially coming from a fellow Aussie! While I doubt I'll ever 'blow' up. I'm genuinely thankful that I even have this much of an audience that seems to at least watch my stuff.

really hoping you'll make a part 2 coming back with the same save games (although i'm not sure if that's possible if you kindle the flames) to tackle the DLC's , really interested into hearing your opinion on some of the most beautiful and most frustrating locations in DS2

I’d love your thoughts on the DLCs for each game. Maybe even structured the same exact way as this video. “Which Dark Souls DLC is the hardest?” Haha
@freshii37168 ай бұрын
Loved this video I think the unfortunate part is that you were severely overleveled in DS 3 plus had a very good weapon dual blades as a first playthrough is obviously as we saw a bit too much 💀 would love another of these with Demon Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring

You should try running a strength build (like an ultra great sword) when you decide to replay Dark Souls 2, it makes it a lot more enjoyable since you can just sweep a large group of enemies with only one hit.

51:46 as you have surmised from your playthroughs, DS1 and 2 didn’t have the smoothest of developments, DS2 experiencing a MASSIVE shift in priorities halfway through development. This is on the more famous examples of them stiching parts of the map together to make the most of what they had. If you want a lore explanation than I’ve always thought of drangleic as a separate plane of existence, so normal rules of space don’t apply. (Also explains how no one remembers how they got here)

Okay, now I've heard Dark Souls 2 is the black sheep of this trilogy but HOLY HELL I had no idea it was this bad until watching this. Genuinely, _what happened?_ from the controls to the areas to the enemies and bosses, how is everything just so much worse? I just don't get it. So sloppy and frustrating.
@connoc507822 күн бұрын
It's not so much worse. That's the thing. It's better than the latter half of DS1 at the very least.

I think I died the most to ds2 and it's gank fest areas ( most of the death were runback to bosses) then ds3 I died a lot to bosses but not so much the areas and finally ds1 where most of my deaths were just falling off cliffs rarely died to normal enemies or bosses outside the dlc and bed of chaos so In short : 3) ds1 2) ds3 1) ds2

I disagree with your final rankings. My first Fromsoft game was Bloodborne earlier this year (then DS3, 1, and 2, and now Elden Ring), and i was garbage for the first phase of the game... but somewhere between Blood Starved Beast and Vicar Amelia, i managed to "Git Gud". Next i played DS3 and one shot most bosses until the Abyss Watcher. I would say you having dramatically less deaths in DS3 is probably from "Gitting Gud". I also think your deaths in DS2 weren't necessarily because the game is harder, but because it adds artificial difficulty (specifically with ADP). It's not actually harder, but there are specific design decisions that make it more likely for you to die, although i may just be upset about the optional areas in the DLC
@snowy69449 ай бұрын
Picked up ds2 after loving 3. It’s much much harder imo. The amount of difficult mobs and jack between bonfires makes me wanna tear my hair out. Feels like you aren’t even supposed to enjoy the game sometimes.
@ilikestamps2978 Жыл бұрын
If we're talking first time, probably dark souls two, especially if you're playing scholar edition. The amount of enemies you have to deal with, BS boss rooms, and no indication that adaptability increases your I-frames, yeah it's definitely the most BS and unbalanced, even more so than DS1
@dylhas13 ай бұрын
Yo, Scholar of the First Sin is vastly different. Many more enemies, and full of BS!!! It’s not even close to the same as the OG DS2. If you haven’t played DS2 then Scholar is ridiculously hard. Not comparable to the other two souls games
@alvissstar4371 Жыл бұрын
lol You missed a lot of optional and dlc bosses. You are missing a very good part of Dark Soul experience
