I don't care about Putin. Wether he's a good guy or not. We can deal with him. That's why we have The Navy. Klaus Schwab, on the other hand, is a Menace. He considers Libertarians the Biggest Threat To His Plans. He's a Statist Authoritarian Control Freak of the worst possible kind. His plans include total disruption of everything involving Freedom. Little Moustache would be so proud of him! Like I said, we can deal with a threat like Putin, if he's a threat. The forces represented by Klaus Schwab are an imminent and real threat to our whole way of life.

The main issue is not much of electronics getting fried(eventhough its rea!), its more of electric grid going down, and the limited availability of the large transformers used for transmission, making it for a prolonged outage for several weeks, if not for months. The issue is the ensuing chaos due to network and internet outage, lack of water supply etc. High quality whole house nanosecond TVS might improve survivability.
@atomicsmith
@atomicsmith 5 ай бұрын
Supply chain for new transformers is already months. Grid providers usually stock a few for the occasional outage. Even a fairly localized event could take out thousands of transformers. That area would be mostly without grid for at least a couple of years. The secondary effects would probably be worse than just the loss of power. The worst case is probably a mega CME taking out a hemisphere. The secondary effects from that are almost unimaginable.

Destroying as well the financial system so you can reset it all based on CBDCs that work off line and personal carbon emissions? Wouldn't everybody who survive accept the only solution to the chaos ? Wouldn't it be credible if it happens during a solar maximum? Let's say.....2025?

I hear a lot about long antenna's in this video, Not mentioned is that the best length from any wire antenna is 25% of the wave lenght. Also that the perfect length for a dipol antenna is half the wave lenght for creating the resonance. Of coarse...with a wavelenght of a few herz...or even lower...as created with a carrington event we have the situation that how longer the antenna...the more energy it gets to absorb. About sparks (before the air is ionized), With 1000volts I could bridge a gap of 1 mm.(In a switch as example). IF the gap is bridged with sparks the air gets ionized and the sparkling continues even with much lower voltrage. (If you want prove...try with a little bigger gap between wire the effect when you use a cigarette lighter to heat up the gap until sparkling starts and than put the lighter out. The sparkling will continue... But as a warning...static electricity will be easily thousands of volts. Touching with a bare hand a micro chip (Conmtainging gaps of nanmoeters) can destroy that chip immediatly. Everyone working with those chips (even if you want to add memory in a PC) shpuld wear a metal coonnnection with the earth around his wrist. Even without a good antenna a EMP will create more than the max 3 to 15 volt such a chip can survive. ONLY a good metal shieldingf around a PC (the difference between a top brand pc and a lower is often the protection layers agains EM influences) connected with the earth can protect the electronics within that pc. (If not connected with a wire to the grid). I know you can buy contacts with a peak voltage protection. This will work up to 6000 volts peaks, not 60000 volts.

Question on EV's: If the high voltage that is gathered by the EMP hitting miles and miles of Electric Lines, how can it possibly reach the circuitry of an Electric Car, unless it's plugged in and charging at the time? And what if that EV is connected to an OFF-GRID solar unit? Many homeowners are opting to NOT put their Solar unit on the grid because the Utility companies are conspiring with the state governments to short-change the homeowner when it comes to the 1 to 1 Net Metering. So is an Off-Grid system more survivable than an On-Grid one?

Not necessarily. The modules are very resistant to surge, but the charge controller and inverter are probably not going to fare that well? Lightning arrestors may help to prevent severe damage, but they are not designed to deal with an EMP. And they are one time use only devise (consumable). And yes the utility companies are screwing the general public with net metering. I live off grid and have no desire to go back.

After the war, when electricity is restored and new devices can be built, you will be able to restore your data from the backup CD.

Amazing stuff Rob and thanks. Let me ask... If for example a cars or boat battery was totally disconnected so as not to still have a continuity either the circuit wiring and to ground, would that survive/eleviate the EMP affect? 2nd, IF you have in place a designated back-up (UPS) system that is totally disconnected and isolated from circuits and ground and thus would need to be manually connected and started; could this also survive an EMP event? Cheers from Ontario Canada

Hello Rob, I see a lot of comments here from people who don`t understand completely the way transformers work. People are saying the grid voltage is 750kv and another 50 kv on top of that would go unnoticed almost. This is correct if the over voltage was AC not much lower than the mains frequency. But a large proportion of the pulse can be only a few hertz down to almost DC. (From the earths magnetic field returning to normal). This would cause the grids transformers to saturate, (the windings would lose their reactance) and pass a massive current (limited only by copper losses) and if the breakers did not open quickly enough (many of them would not), the transformers would be destroyed.
@MarkPernia-vv1le
@MarkPernia-vv1le 5 ай бұрын
You raise a very good question? Is an EMP pulse AC or DC current? Much like a vehicle alternator creates AC current and rectifies it to DC current, would the Utility grid be able to handle a surge of opposing current like DC? In the auto and truck world AC leakage due to a failing diode bridge can cause serious problems if not outright failure in the DC portion of the electrical system. The opposite may be true with the electrical grid?
@TheTemporalAnomaly
@TheTemporalAnomaly 5 ай бұрын
@@MarkPernia-vv1le The currents induced could never be true DC (zero hertz) because for induction to occur, you need a time-varying magnetic field, however you could easily have very low frequency AC induced, say down to a few hertz some experts suggest down to 0.1 hertz lasting several minutes for a nuke and possibly many days for a very strong solar event. This would need miles long wires to couple with this field and pick up appreciable energy, the kind of wire lengths you find in the electricity distribution grid! This low frequency AC can cause havoc with the distribution transformers due to a phenomena know as `core saturation`. A transformer presents a reactance to the flow of current in its primary, think of it like a `resistance` to the flow of current for simplicity. It can maintain this reactance only if the incoming AC has a minimum frequency, below that frequency the transformers reactance to the flow of current massively decreases, and in the case of DC of sufficient magnetude getting in there, of only a few hertz the reactance may virtually disappear leaving only the resistance of the copper windings opposing the flow of current. Have a look on the Googler with a search term like `saturation of iron core transformer due to DC injection` and you will find some great explanations. Another good search term would be `geomagnetically-induced quasi-DC currents (GIC)` Again, talking about the vulnerability of power distribution transformers.

It also means you can run 'Meshtastic.' Meshtastic (LoRa - Long Range) transceivers can be had for about $21 for the cheapest variety, a Heltec V3. Meshtastic creates an ad-hoc, mesh network that provides encrypted communications, and it doesn't need the Internet or the cellular system. Most devices use a free phone app to communicate, although I do have one device, a 'Lilygo T-Deck' that has a very small built-in keyboard. You also don't need a Ham Radio License. I have about 8 - 9 devices, and I'll be getting more. It's just simple, text-only communications, much like SMS 'texting,' but if the worst happens it could prove to be invaluable. While the Internet is operational, the traffic can also be moved via an Internet MQTT gateway. There's thousands of YT videos on the topic.

Anything that is metallic will act as an antenna not just actual antenna, that includes the actual circuit boards. The electronics today have been made more and more sensitive to electrical flow since the designers are trying to make electronics last longer. In other words, the more delicate the circuitry the easier it is for them to short out.

If there's an EMP, it won't be a major power unless it's a prelude to a first strike nuclear power. More likely to be a state interested in initiating the eschaton (Iran, North Korea).

So, the EMP can hurt us in 2 ways: (1) when it's close, it can directly induce current, but then the strong light will also set everything on fire, (2) the electric grid can amplify the EMP like a radio receiver, and create high current using its own power - how likely is that?

? I bought a device called EMP Shield for my car. The company said it was tested and used by our own US Military in their installations and in some of their vehicles although those devices was specifically designed for the US Military. And I have the commercial version for my car. My question to you is, have you looked into the company itself and what your thoughts on the efficacy of the device?

Could you actually protect against surges in every single wire? No physical connection is necessary. Thousands of volts with sparks? There's no single wire to protect.

@@robbraxmantech Well cars are metal boxes with shielding over some of the wire, computers encased in metal already. I was thinking the glass would be the weakness. So maybe a metallic film over the glass, like a tint, that grounds to the chassis. Think like a fighter jet cockpit. That gold look they have.

What about an isolated ground rod that I could connect to the devices' chassis ground? Yes, there will be wires connected to it but electrical energy REALLY wants to go to ground, drawing that energy away from the device. What do you think?

The likelihood of an EMP would come from 1) CHINA via NORTH KOREA, or 2) IRAN. The fact that most are misled to focus on Putin, is what makes the threat even more concerning. The fact that our own Congress & Senate are ASLEEP at the wheel is frightening.

The length of the wire needs to be resonant for it to receive enough power. The longer the wires, the higher the chances. Then after the voltage spikes it would have to spark to cause the damage.

So, Rob, what you are saying is that people with pace makers and hearing aids are screwed !! Then there is the question of electric cars and electric components is combustion engines. I think horses and donkeys together with paraffin stoves, coal and would fires will be the most sort after items around. By the way, your reference to kindle and having something to read, how about having some books in your home. I have several hundred books.

This is never going to happen as a weapon over large areas, the environment is too big and will soak up most of the energy: 1. Impossible to concentrate that much power over all bands across huge areas. 2. The solar flare of 1859 could have been fake reporting to make up for lack or service when their phone lines failed and or caused fires which might have been another way of getting out of trouble, by blaming it on the sun. No proof! It can be made as a directed weapon, concentrating the burst at a smaller area but to cover all wavelengths at once is still almost impossible. A laser weapon is an example of a wavelength burst that can destroy but look at radio stations that use 1,000,000 Watts. They don't damage a thing. Now can you make a laser weapon at lower wavelengths? No because you couldn't fit a long wavelength transmitter into a small enough device, let alone a broadband transmitter and antenna. This is what makes laser weapons and directed audio possible, they are higher frequencies or directed devices making them either small enough to fit in a portable device or to direct painful sound waves over a small concentrated distance. Another example of this is directed microwave technology which actually starts to heat people up but, similar to directed audio weapons it can only be used in a concentrated area. The only thing that could happen is a high voltage spike over the power grid, this can damage electronic devices that are plugged in, if the grid doesn't throw it's breakers in time. But it's very unlikely that it will damage devices running from batteries alone. Solar grid tie inverters may be damaged but it's almost impossible that a solar charging and battery inverter system will be damaged if it's off grid gear.

If your personal electronic gadgets survive an EMP attack, but the cell phone network, Internet and power grid get fried, they won't do you any good. You might as well bone up on basic pre-industrial survival tools that don't depend on electricity.
