I know General American and I want to learn Scottish accent (especially Edinburgh accent). Because I really love this city and want to move there in the future 💙

I've chosen General American to speak English like an average American due to the massive influence of the United States all over the world, but I also want to focus on learning to understand other accents, I want to better understand most Brits than ever before. Americans don't speak the same type of English obviously, what I want to do is striving for clarity when communicating with different people in the English-speaking world.

I've chosen General American because General British is so complicated to master.

In comparison with lots of accents, I feel like Estuary is the best. Can you make a video for that 😊?

Thanks for your comment! I made a video about the estuary accent here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5LNk4WhlrKphacsi=x2K7-SSU6j_5hwU5

I've been mostly exposed to North American accents rather than British or from somewhere else, but the one that I consider as a model for learners from everywhere (although it's now seen as quite outdated) it's the Transatlantic accent, I consider that one very neutral and classy!

Thanks for your comment! The transatlantic accent sounds great but isn't really used today.

Ed, I’m passionate about SSBE. And your accent is most gracious. Nice one. Cheers

I was taught RP, but wanna take some features of northerners such as foot-strut non-splitting, trap-bath non-splitting, th-stopping, [hw]-sound in words which start with "wh" and using [ɒ]-sound in words "one, once, nothing, tongue, among, other, love" (the last feature is from Yorkshire, if i'm not mistaken). Will it be difficult to understand such speech?
@LeanEnglishPronunciation7 ай бұрын
I think it will be difficult to understand you because you are mixing features of several different accents. TH-stopping and the voiceless /w/ sound are more commonly associated with Irish and Scottish accents.
