Which Event Commanders to Target with Winter Bucks?

I’ve adopted Nobusada as my IJN carrier commander. With a Fishy inspiration the torps gain over 10kn of speed and have noticed that my torps connect far more often that way. You lose all the carrier specific upgrades, so everything else about your ship/planes isn’t helped. But the torps play wonderfully now.

I've used Hyde since he was dropped and it has been one of my favorite builds in the game ever since. I use the same build you show except with flammable canonier as my 1st perk. Normally that would be awful but coupled with fight fire with fire you tend to do alright. Plus the rest of the build is focused on speed, heals and accuracy with the intent to show up, pummel and disengage to repair if things get too hairy. A lot of people think that build doesn't make sense because "what about secondaries?" And my reply is "exactly, what about them?" This battlecruiser build is extremely fun and effective and it's great catching people off guard who neglect to defend against your Bismarck at 15km thinking you'll never hit them or probably can't even reach them when suddenly 7 of your 8 shells hit and 2 are citadels lmao. I did this to SaberHawk's friend in the Kansas lmao, sorry Saber! =P (Saber killed me in the Azuma after that but we don't talk about that lmao)

Picked up Mordoff based on your recommendation from a year or two ago and maxed him out to 16-4 after a long slog for blue commendations. No regrets - my American DD's mean business!

Just got the Kidd from a chest and haven't really played US DDS. Definitely gonna pick up Mordoff now.

I picked up Blue so I can make my French DDs go zoom zoom, but I’m really interested to play the German ships more now. For most torpedo commanders, you only get -20% torp reload if you max the third row and use both reload skills in the first and third rows. The normal first row torpedo skill increases torp speed as well, but reduces gun reload. Her special first row skill gives you -20%, gives you the better torp detection, which is equivalent to more torp speed, but has no gun nerf. So, this frees you up to pick preceptive in the third row for the RPF skill. Seems like a strong build to me.

Good vid! Also worth noting that if you're a longtime player who has one of these at 16/4 you can use spare shards to buy them for free, and get a universal commendation 👍 (Thanks Hide!) I'd suggest a tweak to your Splendento setup, if you fancy trying it. Switch to Quick Fix, Go All Out, and Rather Be Torching. That plays well into the cruiser-like, firestarting harasser tendencies of the Russian DDs, and let's you drop spot faster after firing if you are near to a friendly blue. It also lets you punch speed boost for a time-limited 20% off your detectability, letting you sortie in on torpedo runs against capital ships, and can let you outspot a lot of other DDs in a pinch. With some of the low detectability Russian torps it can be downright nasty, being able to sneak in and deliver noodles on the doorstep 😈

Argument for Teslau. Has the secondary build requirement of Porcupine and Properly Meticulous, which there are 4 German commanders that meet that criteria. Otto, Hyde, Scharnhorst, and Teslau. There may be another, sooooo many German BB commanders. So it boils down to what inspiration you like, Otto gets ap dmg, Scharnhorst gets accuracy, Hyde gets hp, and a Teslau gets agility/turret traverse

Personally I prefer other event commanders but I do use both Hide and Beaply. In respect to Beaply, she is my "Sneaky" commander for the Atlanta. Using Beeply (16/2) with Jerzy Swirsky (16/2) and Gunichi Mikawa (16/2) I have my Atlanta down to 8.8km concealment. Making this my DD hunter. With my 8.5km radar basically if a DD can see me I can see them, and the Atlanta will make short work of any DD in the game. And in the rare times that there are no DD's in the game, my "sneaky Atlanta" can act as a faux DD giving my team the edge. Beaply works well on other light cruisers but seems to be tailor made for the Atanta IMO.

Beapley and Einstein both has the perk to point towards the nearest enemy ship, which can be very useful on US radar cruisers. You lose EOP though

Pickup with Godzilla as an inspiration on GK let's you maximize those 7 spotter planes lol it's a good build, but I still consider it a meme build.

I think you missed the biggest problem with Pickup, with Spotter Plane and EST on the same consumable slot, his base trait is useless if running a secondary build. In my opinion, he is best used as an accuracy captain.

Question for Beapley or any "% reduction" defensive perk. So if an enemy is shooting you with a 20% fire chance, Beapley's 5.6% reduction makes that 14.4% fire setting chance? Or a 5.6% reduction of 20%- making it 18.88%?

It gets pretty complicated, as some of those perks alter the base value before modifiers are applied, and some modify the entire calculation.

You should try splendento with Udaloi. The go all out perk is great when u can position ur self to drop torps on ships with little radar/sonar support. It drops ur concealment like crazy when u activate ur speed boost and let’s u get into some crazy flank plays.

I’m looking at Einstein or Mordoff. I’m using Madden currently for any ship that need a boost in traverse speed. Einstein is at max 1 sec and madden is at 5% with - 3% reload. Having percentages vs sec make it hard to figure out who is best for the job. What do you think I should pick?
