Recently, the sound of the turbo hybrid v6s have grown on me a lot. They sound much better now than they used to, plus it’s just a different and unique sound. Not as good as the v8s or v10s, but I do like these engines a lot more than I used to

Unpopular opinion but I prefer the these V6’s over the V8. The V8 are too perfect while the V6 has imperfections in the sound making me like them more. The V8 sounds mighty and all and hearing them scream is amazing but it gets boring after a while to me. I’m not a huge fan of the winding of the turbo in road legal cars but in F1 they fit so perfectly. Like the jericho trumpets inside the stuka bombers. Hearing them come at you at such speeds. I know a lot will boo me for this but that’s just my opinion.

When i was at the belgian gp 2019. All the cars where louder then i thought. The honda has a good sound. Renault and ferrari are quiet. And at one time there where 3 mercedes powered cars overtaking and driving by eachother and it hurt my ear.

i was also at the belgian gp this year at bus stop chicane and the honda was amazing during downshift and in slow RPM. but the mercedes was very very loud during at the exit of the corner and i really liked the ferrari one it sounded like a space ship

Yeah, tbh the V6 Turbo engine is pretty loud. I was in 2015 Malaysian GP. They provided ear plugs but the sound itself is not loud enough to bleed my ears. Thus I didn't use it. I'm pretty sure the V8 and above is much louder.

@OriginalFake Engines from 2026 will stay 1.6 liters for sure. It is not confirmed, but they are likely to remain v6 aswell. The difference will be the size and performance of the battery (it will generate 476HP), lack of MGU-H and abolsihing rules for flow limits, which results in higher RPMS (based on existing rules, a maximum of 15.000), thus louder engines with similar sound to old v8. But obviously, it is 4 years away, and the current status may change .

​@@szeplakibalazs9143 For anyone seeing this as of June 2023, 2026 engines are confirmed to be 1.6L V6 Turbo Hybrids, but unfortunately fuel flow limits are getting stricter not being removed. It is still possible the removal of the MGU-H creates a more raw and higher pitch sound but combined with the lower fuel flow It may not result in overall louder engines. The revs aren't going to drop, the FIA are targeting 12,000rpm which is the same as the current engines, but less fuel flow mean higher air-fuel ratio in the pistons which means quieter sound.

Vettel was stupid for saying that... F1 has always been about innovation.. Like a race, the teams are competing in innovating their cars just the same as drivers are competing on the track.. F1 going back to old dinosaur technology is a huge HUGE leap backwards that no team would go for (pretending the FIA didn’t exist).. If you care more about sound than technology and innovation, then you have a different philosophy to F1 and should seek a different series. I promise you no core F1 fan will miss you v12 whiners.

@@ballaking1000 i agree. Innovation is a PART OF f1. But 2hat fans love is rivalry and competition. And personally i want the sound. An f1 sounding like a hairdryer doesnt really get me going like a screaming v12

Cian Walshe You mention wanting rivalry and competition- both have nothing to do with sound. 2014-15 cars earned the oh-so-original “hairdryer” slight... 2016 saw a little improvement and since then cars have only sounded better and better- way better than the first 2 seasons of the hybrid era. Like I said earlier, if F1 isn’t “getting you going” there’s literally thousands of other series to follow. You can literally turn this lose-lose situation (you being a broken record about the sound and the rest of us having to see more bitching) into a win-win where we all can enjoy f1 and have 1 less complainer meanwhile you’ll enjoy some other series. Hmmm

@@ballaking1000 rivalry and competition existed in the v12 era. Not today. Just because the 2016 cars sound better than the previous year still doesnt mean they sound good. And as for telling me to F off and find another series to watch... thats just a childish answer.
