Exactly! This is the main reason why people struggle to break into IT. They even stick to one field!

Facts I see so many people struggle with this but it's all about picking one thing. There is no wrong decision, the only wrong decision is no decision.!

I majored in CS and graduated a few years ago.. was the only guy in my cohort that decided not to go into software engineering. I am a Data Center Engineer now and although we don't work remotely I enjoy the perks around the industry. Data Centers are Layer 1 of the OSI model.. without us there's no application or digital services (layer 7), it's very vital.

Absolutely layer one is the most vital layer in all the OSI model. That is really cool that you decided to do something different than the traditional “software engineering” people.

I want to focus on Linux but everything I see is it being apart of something else like systems, devops etc

Linux is not a big part of what I do as engineer now but it’s growing in need. If you are thinking about cloud Linux is much more valuable.

Great video man. Do you think buying physical network equipment (used) is worth it to talk about at interviews or would you just stick to emulators?
@NetworkWali
@NetworkWali 6 ай бұрын
Absolutely talk about it! This gives you an edge because working with physical equipment gives you a great understanding of layer one and you can explain that during the interviews. Show me experience with a real equipment almost better than the simulators.

What comes first n/w engineering or cybersecurity? While working in n/w engineering how much coding or programming we have to do?
@NetworkWali
@NetworkWali 5 ай бұрын
Cyber security is not really an entry-level field. Since it requires you to understand stacks. Networking happens to be one of those stacks that cyber security engineers need to know.

What’s the real difference between Network and Telecommunication engineers?
@NetworkWali
@NetworkWali 6 ай бұрын
There may be some overlap between them. You can be a network engineer that works in telecommunications. But when it comes to job descriptions they may use different terms even though it’s the same type of work.

Have you ever done night shift because it affects work life balance? Is it a good career option? Am I afraid of night shift?😟😟
@NetworkWali
@NetworkWali 7 ай бұрын
I’ve worked it before but yeah man. There is work in the night time not going to sugar coat it. But if you’re in good team there may be rotations so you won’t work as often. I don’t enjoy nights at all but that’s just the nature of what we do.

@NetworkWali

Hmmm that’s really a tough question since it depends on the company really. But I would say cloud, networking, cybersecurity are all really good for wfh.

Great video! I was considering going into Network Engineering myself. There are a few things I am concerned with though. 1. If I struggled learning HTML and CSS in a community college class, will this be a problem? 2. I’m colorblind. Will this be a problem? 3. I have moderate scoliosis and battle back pain (some days are a lot worse than others. Will this be a problem? 4. How early can you expect to start in a given day? 5. What percent during the day does this career involve being in an office? 6. I know you’ve mentioned it not being a concern, will AI take over Network Engineering? 7. How is the stress of this career in general? I’ve read that it’s pretty stressful but I don’t know what to believe. Sorry for all of these questions, I know there are a lot. Anything answered is appreciated!
@NetworkWali
@NetworkWali 6 ай бұрын
1. As long as you focus and practice everyday you will get better 2. I am not the one to answer that question but if there are color blinded software engineers it definitely doable man! 3. I am sorry I am not the one to answer this question 4.around 8am 5. There are remote positions and wfh positions really depends on the company you work for. 6. It may take over some parts but don't worry 7.In the beginning it is high but you get use to it Hopefully these answers may help!

going throuth qa automation bootcamp, with thousand of applicant in every qa position, maybe it is good idea to pivot to network engineering or something less saturated.

True everyone wants to get into software engineering it's the most common field an IT but there is more opportunity in other fields. Before you make the decision first think about it, because constantly changing fields is not a good idea.
