Another great video Graham. Its easy to spend lots of money on carp bits and pieces and bait and flavours. Its actually now become a million pound industry. I'm old school and like to keep things simple and cheap (as do you). For me, bread is still the best bait.

Oi Oi Saveloy said Mr Carp. I never tire of watching your skill with controlling a rod Graeme, I think it's a continuous top tip on the channel and especially great for beginners who otherwise learn by trial and error. I must of lost hundreds of fish in those first few years learning how to play them properly and not let the adrenaline take control. I landed my PB Bream on Thursday mate 9lb 3oz on a method feeder and banded pellet and wait for it out of Bristol Docks. It's all free water so didn't even cost me a day ticket. Thought I'd snagged a bit of underwater debris till about three rod lengths out and then Bang , I've never had a Bream fight like that before. Anyway enough of my waffling , hope the Missus and Mike are in good health. take care mate.

@@TAFishing Me neither until now my PB was 4lb 7oz, it looked somewhat like a dirty gold dustbin lid. I have heard of doubles coming out of it in the past but it was some time ago. People have had good Carp around 30lb from the Docks, lots of really specimen sized dace to. It has several locks and so the whole dock rises with new water I think once a fortnight , letting in all sorts and it's brackish in areas to and gets the swell coming down and filling it up through the feeder from the seven. Honestly mate I'm like a dog with two dicks , it's been a good couple of years since I've actually caught something special and I've got a bad leg now so it's rare i get anywhere very far Sorry Graeme I do go on, I think the pub mentioned banning me if I don't shut up about it. Take care .

Also with luncheon meat I slice it 4, 6 and 8 mm, in a plastic bag you put a small amount of your liquid or powder additive , rub it around , add your meat and rub it around then freeze , when thawed it has drawn that flavour in . Break into small bits with your nails for size 14 and your away . I re freeze if not used or liquidize to add to ground bait .

Just use a grater with different size slots , you just increase speed or pressure for your choice of sizes . Add brown crumb , oats or ground bait to help it sink and a little goes a long way if mushy , doing that helps as it's fatty some can be buoyant . A mixture of mush and larger bits keeps the fish occupied .

8mm bread punch is my spam cutting choice.. You get perfect 8mm pellets of meat every time. You do get a little exess that way but i just loose feed with it or throw it in my ground bait. I find they trust the pellet shape a bit better than the cubes. No finicky bites. They just take it.

How much do you pay for all the ground bait and actual bait for a single time out let's say 8 hours
@TAFishing Жыл бұрын
Depends what bait you want. I pay (2023) about £17 for a sack of Bailey's Horse feed ,but that lasts me the best part of 5 months so about 2-00 a session. A large bag of boilies might be £50 but it has other stuff in the deal,dipping juice or whatever they call it,and some bags of pellets. Again,that might last me 4 Carp sessions overnighting. So averaging £15 of bait ?...Or if I am day fishing I can use a couple of loaves of bread from the supermarket and that might be £1-50 if its going out of date and on the discount section.Plus a frozen bag of sweetcorn,under £2. But that's just me. Everyone is different. For 8 hours day fishing you can do it a lot cheaper using Supermarket produce,luncheon meat,dog biscuits,bread,sweetcorn etc.

I've done the 35lb Carp on a pokey stiff Carp rod,film is up somewhere in the playlist. River fish. Common. I personally just haven't got the time to sit around mulling over tactics to catch Gerty the Thirty, I just go fishing like Mr.Average and happy to catch whatever is in front of me. I scale down my tackle to get a bit of action from whatever size of fish is in front of me. Its all relative. I've done a 1000lb plus shark in 600 metres of water on full standup gear so a 30lb Carp is just the same,another fish,just a slightly smaller size. The saying is .."Each to their own"...whatever you enjoy.

@@neilvee451I had a feeling it would be. When I first started fishing as a kid in the mid 70’s, it was just a pint of maggots. I haven’t fished freshwater for over 40 years. Things like carp cradles didn’t even exist back then. How much of all this new gear catches the angler rather than the fish? I see so much stuff online for freshwater fishing, and the price of it makes me wince 😂
