Which Grand Seiko GMT? (SBGM247 vs SBGE257)

247 for me! Steel bezel and no PR on the dial. I think that lighter shade of green is stunning, whereas the 257 is VERY green. Both very nice though.

Great comparison! It’s funny, there are elements in both I like and dislike. I like the pop of orange on the 247 and the framed date. I like the green bezel and sunburst dial of the spring drive. Maybe a third watch that combines the best of these two 😉

I prefer the muted green in the 247. I'm not a fan of the limited lume on these newer Grand Seiko GMTs; I'd rather see all 12 hour markings (or 11 if we except the date window) lumed. I also prefer the framed date window on the 247, but wonder if adding that to the 257 would make the dial too busy with the power reserve on there too.

It definitely would. But I think the main factor, and why GS decides to do se on some models, is the fact, that a framed date window attracts the eye to the date unconsciously - and therefore making the date position seem off, because you notice it more. Whereas it seems more harmonic on the 257, and you simply glance at it only when needed.

I Love the Movement of 257 bit more than 247 however I like the Subtle Look of Green Better on The 247. Tough Choice. Probably go with the 247.

257 all the way here. The size of approx 41 closer to my sweet spot being a 42 and the sunburst Forest Green gives it more pop and less like an Explorer 2 bezel. Also, I am not a fan of the faded green.
