One detail is missed though. In GTA V you CAN NOT grab a ledge after a jump, which you could do in GTA SA and GTA IV. This severely limits "parkour" options and while more "scripted" animations in GTA V look slicker and ragdolling into walls is fun for a couple of minutes, I way more prefer GTA SA/GTA IV movement.

Gta 4's parkour isn't realistic at all. When Niko jumps, it feels like the physics engine directly shifts into moon's gravity, and when he aproaches the ground, again the engine shifts to an abnormal gravity. Niko's movements are extremely slow and clumsy, and don't forget the fact that a 30 year old guy (Niko) is able to hold onto a wall for 24/7, which isn't possible irl.

CJ does what is known as "slap landing" this technique is used only for small heights or emergency situations where a roll can't be done. That's bad Parkour since CJ uses the slap landing for high spots which in real life could easily cause injury.

There's a really cool mechanic in gta 5, that when Franklin runs towards a ledge he slides or he jumps longer, at first I thought it was a bug, because he rarely does that and when he does it has to be very accurate , but I went to test more times and realized that it was not

I like how contrasting and realistic games can be at the same time...you could look at aiden pearce from watch dogs who's old as fuck almost 34 or something in game but can do parkour moves and has peak human stamina and endurance..and on the other hand you have niko who struggles with moves but still manages to pull them off being around the same age in his game...makes me appreciate rockstar's design even more for showing how niko actually "tries" to pull those moves off and doesn't do them as effortlessly as aiden does in watch dogs...(aiden is basically a john wick with a family so makes sense if he's able to do them)

The parkour in watch dogs is also very amateur the only thing that is new is the thief vault when he use 2 hands and the one leg wall jump, but nobody knows Aidens past maybe he was athletic before. The most unrealistic is in watch dogs 2 when your character is a parkour pro doing frontflips and backflips and a hacker at the same time, this guy have too much free time.

Do you know a video editor feature exists in GTA IV as well? I think you can do great work by using that and get people interested in GTA IV by some "Cinematic mode: ON" clips.

I know it exists ;) I just find it a bit clunky. That's why I limit cinematic sequences to GTA 5.
