imo fuzz is usually used to describe heavier distortion. so overdrive < distortion < fuzz

@@Obama-bi4fm fuzz and distortion are both distortion but they work different. Generally, fuzz pedals create more harmonic content. This makes: major 3rd chords sound out of tune, octave effects above 12th fret, and thick power chords. A distortion can be heavier and have more gain but reacts differently to the way you play. For ex. Palm mutes and complicated chords will sound better. The Proco Rat can sort of do both sounds so it’s a cool pedal, if you want to see how fuzz/distortion react different. With the filter open it lets harmonics through and sound fuzzy. With the filter set higher it sounds more like classic distortion.

These are more like overdrive or heavy crunch tones, but I think they all sound really good. It's definitely not distortion though, even if you're using a distortion pedal. You can use the boss distortion pedal as a sort of boost/overdrive, or you can go full distortion, especially if you stack it with other pedals or go into an already overdriven amp. Anyways, they all sounded good. It's cool to see you play a guitar with Humbuckers.

For any one wondering there is no “distortion pedal friendly amp”. Almost any will sound good if you just adjust the settings right and the difference in sound here is mostly different kinds/sizes/amounts of speakers. Here are some easy settings for making distortion pedals sound good. - Fender or clean amps = lower the tone, crank the gain, volume just a bit louder than the clean guitar. - Marshall or crunchy amps = tone a little lower than halfway, lower distortion, more volume. - Blackstar or higher gain amps = lower tone on guitar, turn up tone on pedal, lower distortion and more volume. Ps. A Marshall cab doesn’t do the same thing as a Marshall amp…
