I get lots of requests on my opinion of which guitar is the best for which genre or playing style. That's a hard question to answer since no one plugin is great at everything. But I hope that I can help guide you toward that answer with this Livestream. Disclaimer: I don't own every guitar sample library on the market, so I may be missing the best one in the world and don't know it.
If you appreciate my channel and want to drop me a tip, you can do it here in the chat or here:

14:54 How the heck could you play a fast guitar lick on a keyboard that sounds better and more realistic than being played on a real guitar?!?! A much anticipated video from the viewers of this channel would be: "How to play solo guitar on a keyboard like Ruben". Ruben is the kind of person who can "single-handedly" put people like Slash out of a job, with a simple plastic MIDI keyboard. If Axl Rose had seen this video in the 90's, he would probably hire Ruben as the lead guitarist of his band to fill that vacancy left by Slash.

hey there. I watched nearly the full 3 hours (only skipping a few instruments that I knew I didn't want). Until now I have only had the Native Instruments ones (I have KOMPLETE 14 Ultimate, which includes ALL of the NI ones you reviewed and I have bought the rest). ANYWAY I was NEVER 100% happy with ANY of the METAL AMPS in NI ... there were ALWAYS some minor but irritating artifacts and harmonics that I could not remove. Today I bought the AMPLE AGLP (Les Paul) Guitar plugin, and have done my first song with it, and OMG I was SOOOO inspired by the sweetness of the AMPLE AMPS that I fell in love with it, and my song ended up TOTALLY COOL. BOTH the SOLO tracks and the CHORD tracks are so nice now. THANKS A MILLION ! Now to fix all my other rock songs :-)

The thing with guitar simulations is that I don't think you can make them sound good unless you play enough guitar to understand the instrument - and if you do, you are probably better off just using a guitar. There is a market for these, but I think it is very narrow

Realrick from music lab is one of the best I've heard. It's the richenbacker guitar 6 and 12 strings. Great strumming and I would struggle to tell it from a real guitar.

Since you like ambient guitar sounds, if you havent tried Opacity II by Audiomodern I would really suggest. It has both a performance/melody mode and pattern/fill/swells mode. The sounds are really special I think

One thing about Shreddage I discovered is how the samples don't sound 100% clean even when init DI is selected. When you add crunch and distortion it's fine, but clean tones from Electric Mint is way better

I kind of like the slightly synthetic sound of these types of plugins. But I have guitars and amps, so I can see the bit of frustration someone who plays keyboard could have with that.

@HIFIMIDI DEFINITELY. It's a small company from Italy (like a said, with a team of one, but the quality doesn't reflect that). You can literally buy their entire inventory for the price of two libraries from any of the major companies. They don't have a trillion articulations, but he utilizes some clever techniques that make his instruments extremely usable & the quality is top notch (I even layer his bass release library with my Scarbee basses as well). Someone if your advanced skill level could offer great feedback. The FUNKYGUITAR 2.0 (a Strat library) with its arp on is superb! It uses velocity for altered chords and such. Anywho, fantastic company, especially when you realize it's a one man show. He even has a ton of free older libraries to sample his work (that's how I was introduced). Checkout his KZbin demos/tutorials. kzbin.info

1:06:25 - Re: RealLPC: “I want it to go a little softer than that.” I’ve said that to myself about RealGuitar’s libraries for 10 years, well over actually. I can’t believe they haven’t updated their sample set with better/more velocity layers after all this time. And I just love their UI too. I’ve always wished for a plug-in with RealGuitars’ interface and Ample’s or Orange Tree’s sound.

I have RealEight and AMGH (HellRazer) and neither sound good clean I find. I cannot seem to get the sound I want. I only have free Guitar Rig 6 and Audiority Solidus VS8100 amp VSTs. Can anyone recommend a good VST (6-string is fine) for clean guitar sound? For metal mainly. (think Opeth, Be'lakor, Agalloch...so melodic Death Metal I guess)

Odin 2 is great but plain suck for clean tones and require more effort to get the tone you want. Heavier7Strings is KING but it's an abandoned project and suffered from instability with Apple silicon processors and immediately crash when loaded in logic pro, haven't tried cabal8.

I was surpriced that you preferred AGLP over OT Strawberry… I thought that OT guitars are like..one of the best guitars out there and they were not even in your top 3 pick :)
@mrdali67
@mrdali67 Жыл бұрын
Agree. The OT libraries are so well programmed and you have so much control over how you wanna use it, which can be overwhelming to learn, but I remember first time I tried how easy I could get a dull and simple midi guitar track just by using velocity art switching to sound anazingly realistic with Evo Strawberry. Huge fan of OT. Ample Sound has evolved a lot over the years, but OT is still the King of plucked instrument libraries, and personally I have only scrapped the surface of what you can do with’em. I agree that the rhythmic strum coding is not optimal, but Imo that is because the idiocratically old and stupid ui of Kontakt up to ver. 6.x. I would have gone insane as an IT developer if I had to work with such an ui for coding. At least the have done something about that with ver. 7. It was about time.

Impact Soundworks Shreddage and ThreeBodyTech Heavier 7Strings (not reviewed) Are the BEST REALISTIC Virtual Electric Guitars on the market, but yes...the presets of Shreddage SUCKS! and to achieve a great sound takes to long to understand the behavior of the sofware maybe they are more useful for programming and not Out-of-the-box or live performances, but trust me...are the best ones in most aspects
