If it wasn't for shoes like the Hoka Bondi 7 , at 65 years old and running since 1979 , I would be "done" . Never needed the extra cushion and stability when I was younger , but definitely need it now or I suffer for it. Where younger runners are talking about PRs , race day , tempo runs , recovery runs , threshold runs and all that jazz, my goal is to make it 5 miles without cardiac arrhythmia , cardiac arrest and more common avoiding plantar fasciitis . How's that for a PR .

I wear the Bondi. What is the difference between Bondi and Rincon?
@tmoney3198
@tmoney3198 3 жыл бұрын
@@slundgr the Rincoln is much lighter and definitely does not have the stack height as the Bondi does. I use the Bondi for long runs and even daily runs when I’m just taking it easy, as it offers more cushion to preserve the joints. I use the Rincoln on my other daily runs when I’m pushing the pace or doing progressive/tempo runs. Thankfully I’ve not had any major injuries, knee or otherwise, but want to remain that way. For me, I try to use the Bondi as much as possible, when on pavement, in hopes of being able to run for all the years to come. Btw, the Rincoln does offer considerable cushioning for as light as it is and I’ve never experienced any issues with them. Simply put, I love them both and will always have them in my rotation. 😃

@@tmoney3198 Thank you very much for the information. I don't run anymore after two ankle surgeries, but I walk every day, often on sidewalks, so I think I will stick with the Bondi. It's light enough for me and has worked for me so far. I like to know what options might be available. Thanks again.

I work retail and I wear the Gaviota 4. I have flat feet and don't wear insoles, so the stability of the Gaviota is very welcome for me because it is a stability shoe. If I were to wear arch-support insoles or custom orthotics I would definitely opt for the Bondi 8 (specifically the goblin-blue-colored one).
@milesbrown6948
@milesbrown6948 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for this comment Frederic. I have extremely flat feet and some Hoka models I have tried have too much arch support for me. My speedgoats have been life changing for hiking so I'm trying to figure out what the non-trail equivalent is.
@frederichauge9032
@frederichauge9032 Жыл бұрын
@@milesbrown6948 I would say the Clifton with some arch support insoles would work best if you have tried either of them already. Both the Clifton and the Speedgoat have neutral stability and a balanced cushion. I say arch support insoles because the midsole is uniform in density, there is no medial arch support to prevent overpronation. It almost surprises me that the Speedgoats worked for you considering it had neutral stability (meaning the entire midsole is the same). My best guess would simply be that since the speedgoats are meant for hiking/trail running, you're really only using them for softer trails and not concrete. Hiking trails are--in general--easier on your feet and I imagine that is also making a difference for you. But it's really important to take what I say with a grain of salt. Everyone's feet are different and I'm not an orthopedic doctor. I just sell shoes for a living, which only started recently.

I am an avid runner, and I’ve been wearing ASICS gel Nimbus and the gel cumulus for decades now. But in the last year, I’ve developed serious pain in the joint of my big toe. It makes it very uncomfortable to even walk let alone run. I believe it’s inflammation in the joint f the big toe from overuse aka Hallux Rigidus. Because I’m not gonna stay off my feet and I won’t stop running until I have to stop running, I am looking for a shoe that has a more rocker style that keeps the pressure off the toes. I read somewhere that the hookah Bond is a good shoe for that. I don’t know who sells them in my area, so I’m just going to order them online, but is this the best shoe that offers of more glider rocker style that alleviates pressure on the toes?

Just ran my first trail race (46 miler) and I am pretty sure I need the Evo Speedgoat in my life!

If trail isn't technical try Stinson ATR 6... Got 60 to 90 day trial period depending on where you by it...

@@Thankful_n_Grateful stinson evo was ruined when hoka moved design and materials away from the spongy blue and white original shoes. IMO. The first versions were OK for about 2 or 3 changes, then it just became unrecognisable to me.

@@Dee.K.Mikaelson So true! Supposedly the SG 5 has the same midsole as the EVO, a better upper and improved traction. We will see

@@Dee.K.Mikaelson Have you tried Stinson ATR 6? If not give them a try... May not be for you, but you've got to experience it... I also added max custom insoles that are fitted & formed to my feet... They were insanely comfortable & grippy...

Gotta try out the running shoes for guys like me who hit the 220lb mark. I have been looking for something comfortable for my jogging experience. I have a few different Ultra boost 19 through 21. I find that the 21s so far have been ok after I put around 75miles on them. My 19s were all good until they hit the 800mile mark.

I am 130 kg, and a walker. You may try Bondi 8. Bondi 8 is giving great stability, lighter than Bondi 5, and continue to have breatheability on the upper. Oya, another good for big guy like us is Arahi series. I tried the Arahi 6, but improvement on Bondi 8 is serious, so I purchased Bondi 8 2 months ago.
