Have seen a guy who modified pricking rons to achieve a slanted oval hole, So it is a hole not a diamond but sloped like the diamond that an awl or stitching iron would make. He uses 4mm spaced 1 mm holes on fine wallets etc.

Pricking irons vs. punches? I’m using pricking irons these days (mainly because they seem cheaper ... I’m just starting out), but I’m wondering if there are inherent advantages to using punches as opposed to irons. Maybe some advice on starting up business wise?
@LowTideLeather
@LowTideLeather 5 жыл бұрын
Great question! I would say the biggest difference is style preference. Some people hate the hole punch look, some people love it. I personally love the modern style of the hole punch as opposed to the luxurious style of the pricking iron for my brand. Not to mention, it is one billion times easier to saddle stitch with the hole punch because the needle goes through the hole effortlessly in comparison to the friction with the pricking iron slit. As for the business start up, that sounds like a great topic for one of these videos! Stay tuned

So stoked you have started with these KZbin tool reviews ! Awesome video Bryan!!! Question - how often did you have to replace the punches on the Tandy 4 in 1? Maybe you could estimate it in terms of number of Nautilus 3 wallets? I know there are many variables but I just need a ball park :D

Hey! I saw that you have a pricking iron and round dent for both KS and Sinabrooks.. Are they of the same measurements? Which one would u recommend for someone who will be buying it for the first time? Thanks - big fan!
@LowTideLeather
@LowTideLeather 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! The pricking irons will be different measurements. The size I use is 3.85. The actual pricking irons dont vary in size, just the spacing between them. As for the recommendations, are you referring to the hole punch over the pricking iron or the size of the pricking iron?
@janine7815
@janine7815 5 жыл бұрын
@@LowTideLeather I guess for the pricking iron and round dent it's the spacing that will vary right? Then the round punch will have a bigger hole compared to the round dent.
