Thumbs up for the fast, straightforward answer! One worthy mention about cellular: if you have a wifi ONLY model, your position on the moving map won’t be shown in foreflight, because the wifi only models don’t have a built in GPS antenna. Even if you don’t activate a cellular plan, a cellular capable iPad is a must.

Hey 👋🏾 Would you say it would be sufficient to select the WiFi- only option and then connect to your mobile hotspot when in air and ensure to have location on all navigation apps? I ordered the WiFi-only option (11” air) but now I’m a little concerned it may not be good enough. I’d be mainly using it to study for my ATPLs (ground school) and some flying here and there. Thank you in advance

I am looking to get iPad 10.2-inch, 64GB, Wi-Fi (9th Generation). Just from chatting with Foreflight folks, my concern is Apple/Foreflight are forcing people to upgrade their OS and worse case I have to get a new one. Have you experienced this? I am about to pull the trigger on a 10.2 inch 9th generation for my IR rating and till I get my Commercial. What are your thoughts on this?

Cellular isn’t gonna help when flying at higher altitude so I’d recommend an ipad (WiFi only) with a foreflight sentry.
