Not sure what is more of an aero penalty - those panniers or the parachute of your "almost" unzipped gilet. One additional thing to consider is weather resistance. For rain panniers are significantly better imo as they're designed using waterproof non-breathable materials. Backpacks, even with a rain cover still can allow water ingress. Additionally in really hot conditions, not having your back covered is hugely beneficial.

Interesting video. I guess the backpack is more practical as long as not too much weight for balance. ....how about a trailer for your bike...for more needed items. 😉🚴

Funny enough, I’ve done that. You can carry a lot but it’s SO SLOW

I wish I officially had a fully remote job. I love commuting by bike but the trail I basically have to take is …no longer pleasant
