Pages is a great word processor. Numbers is also a good spread sheet program. They are different.

I think that the free apps for Mac/iPad are usually great. They offer the same functionality for free and if you want you can export to office.

I think numbers is a great choice... I normally use apple free apps. They work really good and you can also export the document in office format.

I used to use all Microsoft office apps on my ipad but I found the apps to be barebones especially excel. I think it is fair to say that now with the IPad Pro, the problem isn’t hardware or even software (things can be improved upon). I blame the developers now mainly Google and Microsoft for purposely limiting features and functionality on their IOS apps. A good replacement for office apps is office suite. You get the full Microsoft experience with this app for Word, Excel, PPT, and PDFs. Also, it is cheaper.

Man, Nice content! Make a video comparing pages and word too, it’s gonna be awesome . Other thing, please make a video about docs organization system. I have very difficult to manage my files. I am medicine college student and a i like to use notability to hand writing notes but I don’t know how manage pdf, word docs, slides and thing like that. I would like to storage docs by class in notability but when I up then to the app all its converted in pdf files. So when I need to edit something i need an app to convert pdf to another extension and use pages or word (pdf editors are incredible expensive). Please help me to find an more efficient way to manage that stuff 🙏🏻

For me the best spreadsheet option for iPad Pro is online Google sheets (not the app). It has most of the functions I need no me that Safari is a full desktop browser on iPadOS.

Excellent mate. I use excel as I have a office 365 subscription for the family. Easier to stick with one product. Also as Microsoft were at the iPad Pro event to show off their app, ms office will only get better and better over the coming updates.

I like your videos but the title of this one promised a bit more in terms of comparison, and it didn’t help that one of the few things that you did compare (using the “shift” key to sum up cells) didn’t work in excel or numbers, making them both frustrating apps for regular excel users to use on the ipad.

Good video! I believe that you can use Excel on is full format if you use it on Safari as a Web App with Microsoft Office 365.

Numbers allow you to print selected columns and rows in each page while excel for iPad does not have that feature.

I use numbers for my budget. I look at the pdf version on my iPhone through files because I removed the app on my phone. I like it but I’m still a noob so sometimes I get frustrated trying to figure it out

The Apple equivalent to excel is Numbers not pages, which you kept calling it. Pages is the equivalent to Word.

Am I doing something wrong or we can’t add a photo/image directly into a cell in Apple Numbers? Instead we have to add it off to the side of a table then copy and paste it into the cell.

Sidney N. well in my country (Turkey) magic keyboard price for ipad almost equals to magic trackpad+smart keyboard setup. i have chosen magic trackpad+smart keyboard solution because i had already keyboard. i also use trackpad with my office pc and home laptop. the size is just great but have to say not too much mobile. if you are carrying an ipad case which holds accessories as well (like usb hub, cables etc) then mobility is not a problem. usage if dependent on what you want; i preferred trackpad over mouse because trackpad can imitate touch interface.

Why does nobody ever say something about the fact that you can’t use Visual Basic (macro’s) on an iPad? Macro’s are so important (75% of my sheets use macro’s) and neither Excel nor Numbers can use macro’s on iOS or iPadOS, and thus for me... both apps are useless. Excel is always better than Numbers. Why? There are 100.000.000 Excelsheets to choose from online and only a few Numbers sheets. That says enough.

The entire MS suite on iOS is rubbish. I use it all the time for work and its frustrating to a point where I only use MS products on my windows machine and nothing else. It’s a gimped ‘lite’ version. On the other hand if you use the apple equivalents, which work very well on Mac OS and iOS, if you export the file as an MS compatible file type, you’ll have some formatting issues when it’ll open in the respective MS software- word/ppt/excel. It’s clunky both ways man, just pick your poison.

As an accountant who use spreadsheet software to make a living, I can only say none of the functions you just mentioned really matters compare to VBA, external links or keyboard shortcuts on an actual PC running Excel. Spreadsheeting on a iPad is never a good idea.

I’ve stopped the video at 1:47 and I have no intention of watching any farther. “We can just do this, and this, and this, bish, bash, bosh”. I’m sick of being told you just have to close your eyes and snap your fingers and “all your excel dreams will come true.” I haven’t found a single excel tutorial anywhere. You may say, “they’re everywhere.” If they’re not decent, they don’t exist, and nothing I’ve found comes close to decent.

@@fernandosilva No problem, Sorry if It sounded rude. That was not my intention. Perhaps its a good idea to make a video about Pages too ?? Also the Numbers paradigm is more like Adobe Pagemaker kind of thing since Numbers canvas holds more than just spreadsheets and more than one. Editing cells can be a little confusing on Numbers, There a lot of room for many many videos about it. Congrats for your intitiative.
