I'm gonna just say this.....after just getting my fold 5 on Tuesday. Unfolding my device and watching this video after coming from the S22 Ultra was SUPER SATISFYING. I know the camera can't mess with the Ultra, BUUUUUUUUUTTTTT.....it's not like you're getting some camera slouch with the Fold. I feel like if you like the Ultra but you're just ready for something fresh (like me) the Fold 5 is the way to go.

I just traded my fold 4 for a pixel 8 pro.. The fold is dope but I got tired of it in every use situations. This slim screen is not always accurate for texting if you have big hands, and opening the phone to larger screen just to do small task gets cumbersome over time. The S23ultra is the overall king.

Great summary - based on watching your footage on my Fold 5, other than the framing it's hard to see which takes the better shot so unless you are printing or viewing on massive panels... it's really hard for most of us to pick. Probably a bigger question is which of the s23 models is the most popular and how does the z fold 5 compare to that Very few of the people I know with s22 and s23's have the ultra model. The fold 5 only differs in storage Still tinkering with settings here and learning 😊

Very fair assessment of these two beasts, and it really boils down to what do you want. As you said in your video, do you want familiar, or do you want new? For me, I have always wanted bigger screen for multitasking and entertainment, so despite the camera forfeit on the Z Fold5, even if disappointing (though itself is very good), this was no longer as important as largest screen size in a phone. The Z Fold5 is a dream machine for me, but S23 Ultra is the better at everything and very good multitasking (for a candy bar phone)!

Im with Robert on this one. I got both of them. The Ultra is my daily/ going to work, getting it done in style phone. The fold is my after work, days off, and flexin on the bosses at the office meeting. Only problem is its damm near impossible to tell the boss you need a raise when you drop a 2K phone on the table infront of everybody😅 for real though i think my fold has better battery life.

Honestly glad I can't tell the difference between cameras without pixel peeking. Obviously the Fold isn't as wide but I'm not a massive fan of ultra wide shots. Megapixels aren't everything and can even lead to more noise in low light.

I can understand how most wouldn't like the new slim s pen, and I thought I woudn't like it either, until I got it in my hands for myself because I had to borrow it from my Mom while at work. (She got the fold 5 upgrading from the Note 20 Ultra and says she doesn't even MISS the Note 20 Ultra, that the Fold emodies the Note even BETTER. I have the Fold 3 and have had it for about a year and a half with no significant issues. I won't even go back to a "normal" slab phone.) When I got the new s pen in my hands it felt like it fit PERFECT in my hands. No rolling it around or adjusting it every few penstrokes. It actually felt smoother on my Fold 3 screen than the regular Fold s pen. Just my opinion though, as I DO realise there are people out there with normal and even large hands, as opposed to my small hands.

Great review on both devices. It's like asking - which is better, a truck or a van? While you can crap 6-7 people in a truck, it's a much better experience traveling in a van. While you can load stuff up and haul in a van, doing so in a truck is much better. It all comes down to what you need or want. You can't go wrong with either though. Beast devices...

Comparing the price of replacement parts for both devices, the S23 Ultra parts are "cheaper" to replace compared to the Z Fold 5, especially the screens. Not only are the Z Fold replacement parts more expensive but Z Fold 5 only has an IPX8 rating while S23 Ultra has IP68. It's financially riskier to buy the Z Fold 5 than the S23 Ultra especially if Samsung Care+ is not available in the region you live in (add to the fact that a lot of repair centers aren't the best in service & the long waiting time). Z Fold 5 is a good indoor/office/ secondary phone but not ideal as your only phone. With the price of the Z Fold 5, I'd rather get the Tab 9 Ultra that comes with the same specs as the S23 Ultra & IP rating, plus it's a big flat screen instead of a folding one with a crease I can't unsee.

Take into account that future models might not have the better specs than the current one, and then the 2nd hand resale or exchange value of the folds is dependent on the demand of buyers, which would be affected by the real repair costs that they would be incurring for the phone as well as the reviews of the users of the fold series in the coming months. The S23 Ultra so far fared better than the Apple 14 Pro max, but the Fold has no "real counterpart" with Apple that would push more people to want to buy it. Other folds are cheaper compared to Samsung so they might feel like they overpay for the Fold.

Well I just ordered a S23 Ultra to replace my Z Fold 4. My Z Fold 4 folding screen broke a month after the 1 year warranty ended! I only opened my Z Fold once or twice a week! The screen only lasted 13 months! I liked the big inner screen but I'm just not a super user that needs it. Samsung did give me $853 trade in towards my S23 Ultra. I will be glad to get my Spen back! I missed it from my Note 20. So DON'T GET A FOLD UNTILL THEY CAN MAKE A FOLDING SCREEN LAST LONGER THAN 13 MONTHS!

the s23 ultra having a bigger battery and the fact that it doesn’t use as much power is the main reason why I’m picking it over the fold. And if you order directly from Samsung you can get a Galaxy tab 9 heavily discounted and it comes out to 82 less then the cost of the fold 5. The tab 9 being the superior tablet and the s23 ultra being the superior phone is plenty of reason for me to not even consider the fold. Sure I won’t be able to carry a tablet in my pocket but the fact that I have superior hardware is worth that trade off. Not to mention the tablet and u23 ultra are more durable

@@ahmadhusaini8420 I definitely get that appeal but the fold needs to make 2 changes for me to get one. offer similar durability to bar phone, most importantly dust resistance and a screen that as durable as gorilla glass, I work around a lot of dirt so that’s a critical condition. I would also appreciate if they reshaped it to a more passport shaped design like the pixel fold, I think that would be better because right now the inner screens aspect ratio seems inadequate for watching movies, most of the screen is black bars and if you zoom to fill is crops most of the video. That’s the only thing I thought the pixel fold did better, it’s aspect ratio makes a lot more sense to me then the folds.

Why is everyone comparing camera results to S23U when this device (I've been using last 6 months) has very poor performance when it comes to camera. Shutter lag, weird color grading/HDR, bad night mode, poor front camera (except in perfect light conditions), choppy videos, unpredictable results...every single problem from previous Samsung devices is still present !

I don't wanna be a guinea pig tester for a still new folding screen technology. The z-fold only been out for a couple years and some people I know that work at stores that sell these phones tell me they get LOTS of customers returning these phones for screen issues. I just bought the 23 ultra yesterday. Samsung has nearly 20 years on perfecting a single screen phone like this. For me they still need more time on perfecting this foldable screen stuff. And don't get me wrong I was seriously looking at that z-fold but I rather wait and give it more time before I buy something like that.

If you had an old phone like a S9+ (yea i know ancient) which phone is the most future proof? My s9+ still goes strong and everything as much as i know things have changed in the industry still works fine. It's like having a great expensive older TV never wanting to upgrade because it still works just fine. Every year i say this is the year and before i go get it another great phone comes out. So what would you grab? A new iPhone, S23U, ZFold5 or wait for the S24U and ZFold6? It's just a constant waiting game. I just want something that i don't necessarily think it's lacking in anything 6 years from now if i had to keep my phone that long.

I moved from S22 to fold 5. Camera for me, except zoom quality over 3x is better on fold 5. Everything else is sagnificatly better on fold 5. Most important is battery, user experience, multitasking, very good sound and big screen for watching video.

@@JEDASE Mostly battery life and bigger screen. I do reaserch and watching videos mostly on mobile phone. Also I am multitascer so I want better system for that also. So I have big upgrade on fold 5. Everything else is better than s22, including camera (except zoom is little bit better on s22 Ultra).

Got Ultra 23 and Fold 4 and switched too Fold 5 the Fold 5 is completely guarantee and I use a pro max 14 also if you work a lot online choose the Samsung galaxy Fold 5 it got all you need and moore it's totally worth it

I go back and forth between both, why limit yourself? Ive been a note user since the Note 2 so can't give up my Spen and those S23 ultra Cameras.... but that huge screen is just awesome and being able to just fold and unfold just never gets old. Have to have both pretty much i cant just choose one.

I don't know how not anybody is bothered by the chromatic abberation that these oled weird arrangement panels gives. For example compare to the panel that Xiaomi Mi 11 has or the Pixel 8 Pro provides, it's extremely clean display, with no color shifting around the the stuff displayed on screen, and if you don't see it, get closer to the phone, that chromatic abberation kinda like effect it's there and you can see it even from normal distances.

I have fold 5 and s22 ultra...again it depends on what you prioritize in a phone. If you need both, and can afford it, get both! Only live once😁

The Samsung S23 is a over all a better phone. Samsung foldable phones are still for a small group of users. These devices are not mainstream yet.

I feel like the Z fold 5 is still good for all your needs plus more - when you take out the Fold, people say "wow” is that one of those folding phones? You don’t get that reaction from a slab phone…

I'm getting one of these 2 in the next week, upgrading from my s21 ultra after I destroyed the screen last weekend lol After watching this and other reviews, I'm STILL leaning towards the S23 ultra, its soo clean, but I feel like I gotta try something new with the Z fold.
