We went adventure van, we have a 22#86 STO Beast we call Minion. We truly love it totally the right van/fit for us at this point in our lives, the ability to go past a trail head and experience nature without being right next to anyone was one if not the key feature, the next is it’s simplicity yet versatility only one fuel and a robust battery system thanks to the Volta system. And the last two key winning details was STOs build quality and CS, and the above all others STO Community. In time as we age and the ability to go so wild slips from us something like a Gretch could be in our distant future.

If you took the bathroom from the Revel & added it to the Ford Storyteller, that's my perfect van. "Mood lounge" can go. lol I love everything about the Storytellers besides the no fixed bathroom thing. ;)

Adventure van for us. It was good seeing you guys at Overland Expo East. To us you guys and Storyteller Vans had the best “booth”. Great comparison. Almost pulled the trigger on Grech Turismo-ion until I learned it had 16 gal fresh water tank. Totally unusably insufficient for my needs. Went instead with Midwest Automotive Design’s Passage 144 MB all lithium package and love it!

It would have to be the Grech. I want the lithium and hubby wants a bathroom. Have a Travato GL now and have to say the extra width of that RAM Promaster build platform and ease of maintenance makes it the better choice for me.

Ok Joe, I'm 50 and I got to the honest here, I'd rather have the Storyteller setup. It's what you said, it's all about flexibility. My wife and I go camping and adventuring to be outdoors, The Storyteller provides imo a better option for enjoying the outdoor experience. Thanks for the comparison!

At this point, we're likely to be renting some different RV's to get a better sense of what we want/need before purchasing. A fixed bathroom has a certain appeal, particularly during the night. I think we'll probably check out the difference between having a cassette toilet and a black tank. Whether we go with a van, Class C or a trailer is still totally undecided. Neither my wife nor I have cooked on an induction cooktop, but we will have to explore that option as well, but we both like using propane.

Great presentation of both vans as expected from a Russo evaluation! I would naturally be more inclined to the Overlander but the lack of shower and easy access toilet would be a deal breaker at this point as a matter of practicality. We just returned from a 5 month 9500 mile trip across the western states and into the Canadian Rockies for 2 months and our 5 year old Winnebago ERA did just fine but the Overlander would have made access to some areas we would have liked to go more possible and easier. The Grech vehicles' seem to be a great product but I'm still not yet tempted to upgrade. I am tempted by the Winnebago Solis.

Something in between, but it also needs to be wheelchair accessible. Currently the only wheelchair accessible van is the Winnebago Roam, but it’s built on a front wheel drive Ram ProMaster with an under body wheelchair lift. I actually know someone with a Ram ProMaster with the under vehicle wheelchair lift that got high centered on a speed bump in a parking lot. I tend to drive out where I probably shouldn’t go, so I want something with recovery (tow) point, 4x4 (or AWD), have some ground clearance, and use something like the SuperArm wheelchair lift to get in and out of the van.

I love class B's and I love them both! It's not a bathroom without a tub, anyway. To me, camper bathrooms are for emergency use only. And both fit that bill.

Hands down its the Grech for me. Functionality, comfort, privacy, usability, 4x4, overall looks, plus I could add things as I go, but the basic platform has everything I'd require in a a class B.

I have a Hymer Aktiv 2.0. Ram Promaster. I consider a luxury class B. The main item I wish it had was AWD or 4WD. I’d love to feel better about driving back roads. Don’t need the bathroom/shower but sure is nice to have.

CAV offers 2 upgrades to the BRICK, one a memory foam rv direct replacement that I’ve heard improves comfort, and now a direct replacement that’s more of a residential bed. I’ll keep you posted on that as we have an order in for that and should have it early November. 😊

@@johnwilliamson9453 hate to admit we must be getting soft in our age, honestly for the wife and I one night on the stock STO brick no issues BUT as we added additional nights we started to see stiffness / soreness in hip&shoulder that was in contact and caused several night turns for us both. We glad spent the money on CA Vans newly designed residential replacement and ain’t looked back. We love our new bed and the toss/turns are gone..!

Personally? Nether I'd go for a small class c and carry a dual sport motorcycle on the rear hitch for going off road. I don't want to take my rv anywhere a dually cutaway chassis with a limited slip dif can't go. Bigger tanks, fixed bed, larger, dry bath fridge and kitchen makes for an easy choice for me. If it's not something I'm going to be living in for long periods? I'd go for a sports mobile then.

I like the luxury van cause we like having a bathroom also( privacy) we do have a 22 foot roadtrek 2010 adventurous campervan an love it. We have all the amenities that the luxury van has but more storage and our refrigerator is bigger. Unfortunately cause our van is 12 yrs old they don’t make parts for a lot of things so my husband aka McIver, constructs parts to fix things. RVs are always needing maintance.

Might you provide in round ballpark numbers, the cost of each rig as typically outfitted? Thanks! (BTW, in both cases, there is a growing issue for servicing the chassis if it needs engine work. More and more Ford and Mercedes dealers are refusing to work on RVs on their chassis, even when they service trucks and vans.)

I hate to admit it, but the luxury van wins out this time. A full working bathroom is not an option for us, we are both in our mid 60's so one of us if not both will be up for a bathroom break some time in the night. My wife also has some medical issues so having a bathroom available all the time with no set up is very important. But I do like the garage style of bed like in the mode. I agree about having the fridge up high and off the ground. We hardly use a microwave, in fact I took the one out of our trailer and turned that space into a nice storage. But it is a convection micro so perfect for the class B. We would use the oven more then the micro. I like the looks of the Mode over the Grech I guess I just need a hybrid of the 2.

Totally agree. We love our self converted van too. It’s not as fancy as the luxury van but it has everything we want and need ( including a toilet) 😁

Hello good people! This was a difficult question. I didn't get the inside headroom. I am 6 foot 3. I think the age of the owner also plays a role (older age, more frequent toilet visits) But I still vote for the Adventure Van.

Well I’m 6,3” my head doesn’t hit unless I’m directly under the AC, and I can lay in the bed and my toes barely touch if I sleep on the inside of our bed but if I’m on the outter side ( aka closet to rear doors ) where the flare out is at it’s widest it’s even better but I’m a side sleeper and rarely sleep flat like a pencil so yeah it’s never a issue for me. And as stated the transit chassis gives more head room though honestly don’t like the trade off of having to bend down on exiting of the slide door. The MB I don’t have such issue but it’s all a personal thing just as some must have a dedicated bathroom and those like me like the flexibility of STOs arrangement the wife and I could not justify the loss of that space for something that is so infrequently used. BUT again always do what fits your own personal needs/wants.
