Excellent analysis. I will always go for VA.....no panel compares with VA if deep blacks are concerned and black is what makes other colors alive or pop out (provided backlight is sufficient) hence always superior picture, but in indian herd mentality IPS is considered superior.

The viewing distance rule is not true for immersive experience. I watch my 55" tv from 6-7 feet and the experience is really great. It doesn't strain the eyes and provides theatre like experience. In fact after getting used to this size, I'm planning to replace it with a 65" tv for a better experience.
