I'd go for the Sandero, and save even more money by getting the standard version instead of the Stepway.

But is it economical versus a Skoda fabia? In my country is the same price.
@liamrichardson6328 Жыл бұрын
The stepway is best and thats because they offer in a 100hp Bi fuel engine, which gives around 750 miles of combined range ! And in the dusty Khaki color looks amazing. 👌
@BuckleUpShow Жыл бұрын
The range offered with the Bi-Fuel Sandero Stepway is fantastic, plus LPG is less than 50% of the cost of petrol at the moment 😏

complaining about the lack of a 6 speed with a weak engine like that in the mg3 actually shows a lack of understanding from the presenters. 5 speed and 6 speed gearboxes paired with similar engines have almost the same minimum and maximum ratio. The gap between the gears however is different, which means that with a 6 speed, you are in the optimal power band of the engine more, but, need to change gears a lot more too. Having tried both, the 5 speed regular sandero actually drives substantially better than the 6 speed stepway. You change gears a lot less, you can sit in 4th from 30 to 50 mph, and the turbo easily carried the engine enough to compensate for the lack of "optimal power band in every gear", it's just about strong enough to push through. Yes, it means you go ever so slightly slower off the line, but, you also don't need to constantly juggle between 3d and 4th or 4th and 5th all the time at 30 or 50 mph respectively. And it sits at 70 mph at 2400 rpm, versus 2200 rpm with the 6 speed gearbox, so it does not worsen the fuel economy on the motorway by much. Dacia is actually very wise to have put a 5 speed box back into the regular sandero, the regular sandero is more likely to spend it's life in suburban areas, where the highest speed limit encountered most of the time is 60 mph, and in that scenario, the 5 speed box makes perfect sense. the stepway tends to be bought more by mums for school runs etc, and is likely to be used for longer trips to visit family, go on holiday etc, so the 6 speed makes it generally slightly quieter on motorways. The 5 speed gearbox in the mg3 makes perfect sense, there is no turbo so less emphasis on being in that "optimal power band" to spool up the turbo, it has a similar amount of grunt in low or higher revs, 6 speed would make it feel substantially worse and a chore to drive with constant gear changes...
@BuckleUpShow8 ай бұрын
Not all of us are slaves to convention. We're well aware that would be the case in say, a Mazda MX-5. What we specifically want in this scenario is an overdrive sixth gear, for economy and NVH benefits at motorway speeds.
@cartouchator8 ай бұрын
@BuckleUpShow I would love that too. Sadly though, so far, I have not encountered a petrol 6 speed box that works just like a 5 speed but with an overdrive gear. It does not seem to exist. I have seen it on a couple diesel cars though. They seem to just be similar to a 5 speed box, but with tighter gaps between gears... it technically saves on fuel as you don't rev as high between gears, but you pay for it with clutch replacements...
