Sex is an act which is as much psychological as it is physical.
As with everything else we do,it all starts with thoughts,what are the emotions we experience and how does it make us feel?
And the brain is the epicentre for all three-thoughts,feelings and emotions.
It is also the operating centre for orchestrating the release of neuro transmitters like dopamine(the reward chemical),oxytocin(the love hormone),serotonin,adrenaline and many more!
How we feel about sex depends on so many factors:
Our beliefs and values
Cultural background and what has been taught as “right”
How we feel about ourselves and our body
How we feel about our partner
Respect and communication in the relationship
Physical fatigue and handling too many things
Mental stress due to various problems
Being made to feel loved
Being made to feel pleasure
Having Negative emotions like guilt and shame associated with sex which are common in our country
Looking upon sex only as a means to have a baby
And I could keep going on and on!!!
So to cut it short
Understand your body and what gives you pleasure first
Communicate-talk to each other
Connect with each other by doing other activities which both of you like
Take some time
Educate yourself
Be willing to try new things
And remember that the impact of your thoughts and feelings can change your sexual experiences!
