I’d highly recommend looking into Steinhoven piano stools - best value for a quality new stool I’ve ever seen. The leather ones are dearer, but they also offer vinyl topped ones for less than half the price. I own the ‘Cadenza’ model in black vinyl - it’s an absolutely solid deep buttoned concert stool for the price we paid for it 5 years ago (£100, now £150). It did require leg assembly on delivery but they’ve never once shown a sign of wobble, and I know very well the frustration of these cheaper stools you mentioned. Everyone who’s sat on ours assumed it would’ve 5x more than it did! They have a nice website and a good range - highly recommend you check them out! (No affiliation! 😅)

I was lucky to find a 2nd piano stool, it was mahogany brown and i paid the earth for it. Definitely worth the investment. The dove joints are attractive and it weighs a ton!

Ideally needs the largest stool leg spacing for stability... Necessary when playing vigorously.

What about stools which are almost benches where you can adjust the height by pulling or pushing on a handle under the bench?

Marcus, I have a very random question you may be able to assist with, what's the easiest way (without scratching) to remove the shrink plastic from the toldeo stool please? I have had mine for 2 months now and haven't taken the plastic off yet (it's very clean though!) :-)

"Not man enough for the job?" Come on man, this is 2022. Can't talk like that anymore.
