My favourite recorder would depend on the style of music I was playing. But my most played recorder is my Yamaha YRA 48B Ecodear alto. It has almost all the qualities of a medium density wooden recorder, and the easy care of a resin recorder.

Bass Recorder is the most fun to play and comfortable for ogre sized folks like myself. The alto is too small and not spread out enough. The tenor is literally a western concert flute with recorder body.... Than finally a good size being the bass.

I have been playing tenor this month and didn't realize it was the same range as flute. Flute seems higher somehow?

@@KKIcons *Coughs* That's due to the key work, the bore size is even all the way around... Easier to overblow the harmonic series. Recorders are always an octave above flutes for their base models. A bass recorder is almost in the range of an alto flute, but Recorder is pitched in F rather than G for the bass. More keys = more notes.

My current favourite is the tenor recorder. It has the same fingering as a descant recorder, so I don’t have to re-learn the fingering like an alto recorder, and yet it has a deeper, more sultry tone than the descant.
