I don't recommend learning SQL solely for the purpose of making money. You need to also enjoy it and find it interesting because it will take a lot of your time to learn. I had a full-time SQL DBA job for around 3 years before I even started freelancing and put all of my free time into learning it. So, yes it's a skill that pays well but that shouldn't be the only reason why you start learning it.
