Good picks! I enjoyed Priory too. I’m looking forward to Fallen Night when I get around to it. The Luminaries has been on my list for awhile. I’ll get to it one of these days. I do think you can get to 4 mammoths this month if you want to, but if you won’t enjoy the reading, then I don’t suggest it.

Ok, so I had to sub. I’m so excited for your choices! I absolutely loved The Luminaries! The Priory of the Orange Tree was another I loved and A Day of Fallen Night is one of my possibilities for this Month… and I’m currently reading Middlemarch 😂 Not sure if I’ll stick with it but so far so good.

I love E.M. Forster. He was such a great writer. For Mammoths I'm reading an esoteric book from the early 60s called Hurry Sundown by K B. Gilden. It's 1135 pages. P.S. I was having some tests done at a local hospital and one of the admin people was your doppelganger. I almost asked if they had a BookTube channel.

I'm impressed with your goals! I'm not doing March of the Mammoths because I already have a Mammoth in progress (Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell). Maybe next year I'll plan a little better and participate!

What a line up! You might be Queen of the Mammoths. The Luminaries was the last book I read in 2022 and I did enjoy it. It's a mystery, too so it counts double!

I enjoyed The Luminaries when I read it in 2014, but I honestly don’t remember a lot of details. It took me a month off and on to finish Middlemarch, so the part a week sounds like a plan. Underworld was great. Property my favorite of the three, but I read a long time ago too.

I already had Luminaries on my list to read this year - I actually own it, and it's been on my shelf for something like a decade - shameful. So, this seems like a good time to start it! I've been going back and forth for ages on whether I should tackle Priory of the Orange Tree. I've heard mixed things, and considering its length, that makes me trepidatious. But with the prequel coming out I've been hearing more positive things again... you think I should give it a go? Haven't read a chunky fantasy book with dragons in ages...

It is definitely long. Sometimes a little bloated. But I liked it and it was a fun mammoth to get lost in.

Good morning. I keep looking at The Priory of the Orange Tree. I have a copy of Falling Man by Don DeLillo. It has 9/11 as the setting. I will have to read Underworld as part of my Pulitzer Prize project. I have a copy of Tom Sawyer/Huckleberry Finn in one volume. That's part of another project. Sure am happy to be retired. Happy reading.

I've never been able to read DeLillo no matter how many times I've tried over the years. I'm a Pynchon fan, and find DeLillo vapid, shallow, and dominated by artificiality and lists. Meh. I've got The Illuminaries too, and have had it since shortly after it came out, and still haven't gotten around to it. Not sure why. It is on my desk's TBR group. So are a couple hundred others ...
